Jamie, Ellen, Judy, Kathy .... 4 special daughters of Joan and Charles Glueck... You probably won't remember me and you may not even visit this website anymore. I guess I just wanted to have some permanent place to memorialize your family.

This is March of 2017... time goes by so quickly... This will be mostly about Judy's parents and how her family impacted my life.

I always wondered how the Glueck Family was, but did not want to intrude in your lives.
I am an old lady now, (78) living in California and I am reminiscing. Don't know if Joan (Mrs. Glueck) will ever get to see this, but at least maybe at some time the girls will and know that their parents were an inspiration to someone outside of the family.
Judy was such a smiler... all you girls loved to laugh and would just make my day, whether playing games, singing together, swinging on the swings in the backyard. I think you inherited both your joy, sense of humor and smiles from your mom and dad. 
Your dad had that big cadillac... I remember when he drove the family and the daytime maid for a vacation in the adirondikes.

Your mom had a wonderful library full of great books and would encourage me to read them. I've always had a passion for reading. It was fun to hear her laugh and enjoy her friends when they would play mahjong? Joan taught me to sing and light candles on the menorah if they weren't home. I loved it and remember once I went to the temple with them to celebrate Queen Esther and how she saved Israel. 

I was an employee at Washington Federal.  Always will remember the manager, Mr. Mandeville, such class and a kind and encouraging man.
For a brief time, in my young life, I lived with and worked for the family.  I admired both parents... Joan was a good role model of a wife and mother and friend, so apparent in the nice way she treated everyone.  (Mrs. Glueck to me)

They both inspired me to be willing to tackle things. I was not aware of their influence until I grew out of my youthful stupidity and adventures. I left their home and married my husband, now of 56 years.
Your dad was a business inspiration.  (Mr. Glueck to me). In my later years after being married, my husband and I also established our own business. He, at 79 is still at his office 12 hours a day.  It keeps him going.

I remember hearing of how your dad began in his parents garage, a vending machine business and created a company that served hot food.  I learned he and friends began Washington Federal in which I became employed. I was living and working for the family in their home on Woodland, serving dinner at night and caring for the girls whenever the parents would go out. I do recall in meeting their friends the Plotkins... really nice people.

My best memories were of playing games, hopscotch, tucking in the girls (they loved the sheets to be real snug) and singing songs to them as they went to sleep. They were so sweet.  Also, the memory of them on the swings out back and we would all sing real loudly...we didn't care if the neighbors would hear us...
Ka sa rah,, sa rah...whatever will be, will be...
The future's not ours to see... ka sa rah, sa rah
What will be, will be...

I was laying here and Judy was heavy on my mind so I thought to look up her obituary and was happy to be able to share memories of Judy. 
Judy was like a sister to me - from a distance. My grandma Mary Frederick was a special person in the  Glueck  
Leading up to my brother Vernon's funeral in Nov. 2010.   Judy was with us everyday-all day-just like a sister. She sat quietly but lovingly with us. She rode in my car with me to the funeral. She was great and just what I needed then. 
She and  I got closer after that and I loved her.

Judy and I were classmates all through the Shaker school system from our days at Mercer until graduation.
We were also in band together, she was terrific in everything she did!  I will always treasure the fun times we shared in recent years.  I was so glad we reconnected after she moved back to Cleveland and will especially remember our fun time canoeing.

Being seven years older, I didn't know Judy that well while at Heights Youth Theatre. We became briefly reacquainted a few years back through Bill Anthony.  What was immediately apparent was her intelligence, humor, kindness, and immense charm. It's clear that she will be sorely missed by her family and friends.  My sincerest sympathy to you all.

Dear Joan and girls: Ifyou recall I spent a lot of time with Judy in Cleveland for several years. She was wonderful company to me and my family, almost like another daughter. I knew Judy when we were together in the orchestra at Shaker; she was a senior and I was a sophmore. She made me laugh and I admired her artistic talent. More recently, about 5 years ago, we became friends again when I was in Cleveland for a few years. One memory I will fondly keep with me is that she was there for me when my dad died 4 years ago. At the stone setting, when I needed a friend more than ever, she stood by my side and provided the strength I needed to get through that very sad day. I know I said thank you to her, but...I always wanted to take a moment and tell her how much it meant to me. Love you Judy...I'll miss you!

Judy and I met at Byron Junior High. We were in the band together, she is in the percussion section, myself in woodwinds. I have vivid memories of her playing the triangle. There were not many opportunities in any given score to play the triangle, but by golly, when it was her moment, she may as well have been ringing the bell for the New York Stock Exchange. So focused, intense and committed to her part! He attitude towards life was just the same. She had such a kind spirit, an open heart and the rare ability to make others feel comfortable. I always felt better when she was in the room.
I regret not being able to see her again when she moved back to Cleveland. I will cherish our private notes communicated through Facebook, as they contain her ever optimistic attitude about her future.
Rest in peace my friend. You will continue to be an inspiration for so many, and will be dearly missed.

I first met Judy in 5th grade at Mercer and from then on we always shared a good laugh.  I remember she would come over my house and whenever my mom called "Judy" we would both answer.  My mom remembers she couldn't call one of us "Judy G." either because we were both Judy G too!   I was so happy to reconnect with her over a 3 hr lunch when she moved back to Cleveland.   So intelligent, nice and fun - we have lost a dear Shakerite way too soon.

I am very sorry to hear of your loss.  I remember when your daughters would visit us at the Washington Federal office on Cedar Road; and I too recall visits to your home on South Woodland.

Judy and I met at the Heights Youth Theater, and our careers ran in parallel: youth theater, dance, Europe. When I first went to Europe, I was lucky enough to see her perform. When she returned to Cleveland, happily I saw her on my last three visits from Denmark. She was a fine artist, a faithful friend, and an honest and compassionate human being. I send you my sincerest condolences on your loss.

To Judy's family- I am so saddened by your loss- I met Judy before highschool started in marching band camp. She welcomed me in as a very young 15 year old, calming me with her kindness.  She had a great way of including everyone, making all around her feel special and valued.  I  admired her incredible independence, confidence and creativity.  We have all lost a wonderful friend in Judy.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sincere condolences for your loss. Judy was a vibrant, beautiful, smart, talented, funny, delightful friend. Forty years ago, during our Heights Youth Theatre days, Judy taught me how to take care of my complexion and constantly made me laugh. She was younger than me but seemed somehow to know more than I did! I'll never forget her Tiger Lily when I was Wendy in Peter Pan. We reconnected in recent years on Facebook and shared some of our experiences with cancer and motherhood and the wonderful mutual friends we had, like the Raes.
She will be remembered always.

Our family got to spend some time with Judy after her return to Cleveland and it was always a pleasure to have her with us.  Such a lively, loving, kind, warm and interesting person!  Our family's thoughts and prayers are with you.

I first became acquainted with Judy in 3rd grade.  The teacher had me sit next to her because Judy was a chatterbox and I was quiet; the goal was for Judy to quiet down.  The reverse occurred; I became a chatterbox.  I again sat next to Judy at a mini-reunion lunch a few years ago.  She was still a chatterbox.  Her daughter was in town doing drama stuff and she was so happy to have her here.  Judy had an energy and a zest for life that you don't often see.  My condolences to her friends and family.
