Lawrence (Larry) Howard Scheps, age 82, of Chardon, Ohio, passed away on December 6, 2025, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born to Saul and Bess (Klebenoff) Scheps on March 12, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended Heights High School and earned a degree in Pharmacy from University of Toledo, where he met his wife, Susan (Weinberg), to whom he was married for over 59 years.
He had a long career as a pharmacist, working at Huron Road Hospital, Fitch Drug, Hillcrest Hospital and Geauga Hospital, where after retiring, he worked part-time for an additional 10 years.
He had an amazing green thumb and took great pride in planting and harvesting his vegetable garden each summer. His hobbies included photography, collecting coins, stamps and baseball cards, reading, and investing. He and Susan enjoyed vacationing in St. Maarten. He was a life-long Cleveland Guardians (Indians) and Browns fan, loyally cheering for them each year and hoping for World Series and Super Bowl championships. Larry loved spending time with his family – his grandchildren were the apples of his eye. He was an original member of Temple Israel Ner Tamid in Mayfield. Larry was a past board member of AZO professional pharmaceutical fraternity and was a former officer of his homeowners’ association.
Larry is survived by his two devoted daughters, Debby Baker (Chris) and Julie Rabinowitz (Dave), and cherished grandchildren, Sam Baker, and Jake, Zack and Will Rabinowitz, and loving sister, Rochelle (Shelley) Gollust (David). He passed away just three weeks after his beloved wife, Susan, and was also predeceased by grandchildren Emma Rabinowitz and Simon Baker.
A funeral service will take place at Mount Olive Cemetery's Chapel 27855 Aurora Rd., Solon, OH on Friday, December 12th at 11:00 a.m. The family will welcome family and friends directly after the service.
Donations in Larry’s memory may be made to Temple Israel Ner Tamid (www.tintcleveland.org) or Hospice of the Western Reserve (hospicewr.org/give).
