I grew up across the street on Claver Road. Paula  was my best friend. She and I spent a lot of time together. She taught me how to make tuna fish casserole that is still a hit with my grandkids,…. she loved our hotdogs. Our family was the only non-Jewish family on the street. She taught me about the Jewish religion. The entire Heiser family was a true blessing to our family. My heart goes out to Tammy and Jonathan, as well as Donna… I will cherish the memories Paula and I shared. 

I will miss you dearly. Taking care of you was an honor and you will never be forgotten. My prayers are with your family in these times of sadness.

This announcement comes to you with much sadness from the HMS Midwest team.  It is with heavy hearts that we share with you the passing of our long time employee, Paula Baker.   

Paula had been a part of HMS Midwest for 8 years and was instrumental in building and leading our Reimbursement Team.  Her decades long experience of working in medical offices was instrumental in helping HMS Midwest handle the myriad of rules and regulations in relation to how offices could safely, legally and ethically collect on patient accounts.

She trained many new employees when they onboarded with HMS Midwest and albeit her role was predominantly behind the scenes, supporting our client focused Account Managers, she did reach out and work one on one directly with many of our providers.   She was patient, thorough, tenacious and never let the insurance companies get away with playing games.

She was kind, thoughtful, loyal and dedicated.  She loved her family dearly and always treated her co-workers as family as well.   Her greatest joy was her two granddaughters, one of which just arrived about 6 weeks ago.

We are very sad this week dealing with her absence.  We are trying to quickly assess where Paula was at on certain tasks, and we will be certain to continue to working on where she left off.  If you have concerns about an issue that Paula was working on for you, please reach out to your Account Manager for a status update. 

Rest In Peace Paula, we will all miss you so very much!   Thank you for being an important part of our HMS family.
