

Raymond M. Kraus Age 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at home on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Cleveland on Feb. 1, 1921. Beloved husband of the late Sharon (nee Marx) Kraus. Cherished father of Gordon M. (Arlene) Kraus and Hilary J. Kraus. Devoted grandfather of Gabriel and Bree Kraus. Son of the late Ida (Most) and Harry Kraus and brother of the late Sonald and the late William Kraus. Raymond was a graduate of East Technical High School and Case School of Applied Science, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. During World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater with the U.S. Navy. Raymond spent most of career in the foundry industry in Cleveland, and worked at National Malleable and Steel Castings before serving as senior vice president at Lester Industries in Bedford Heights for 25 years before retiring. An avid golfer, gardener and traveler, Raymond was known for his kindness and quick-witted humor. He was a member of Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple for more than 50 years and was among the founding members of Congregation Beth Yam on Hilton Head. Services will be held Wednesday, July 26 at 2:00PM at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel 1985 S. Taylor Road, Cleveland Heights, OH. Interment at Mayfield Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Marriott Residence Inn, 3628 Park East Drive, Beachwood following Interment until 9PM and Thursday from 1 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM.
