Dear Cahen family, I am so sad to hear Bob passed away. Ours was a professional connection and relationship while I was teaching at Lakeland Community College. Bob will always be a gem on my career development path. I had proposed bringing in a speaker and gotten a less than enthusiastic board approval. After the meeting Bob came up to me full of enthusiasm and believing in my vision, expanding my initial project. Although we worked together for only about eight months on the event planning for the speaker series, I learned a lot from him.  He had a big spirit and for sure Lakeland was made better by him. I'm very sorry to hear about his passing.

I am so sorry to learn of Bob's passing.  I knew Bob through AFP.  He was a great connector for the world of philanthropy.  He will missed!  My deepest condolences to the family.

I always enjoyed working with him at the J and being with him at community gatherings. His warmth, friendliness and spirit were very special. 

Very sorry to hear of Bob’s passing.  He was a true gentleman and I always enjoyed interfacing with him at Lakeland and on the Lakeland foundation.  I considered Bob to be a true friend.  The world needs more people like Bob.

Bob mentored and gave me freedom to create the book festival at the j c c. Many years ago. We shared laughter and fun and his warmth and kindness will never be forgotten. A fine gentleman  calm cool and collected. My deepest condolences to Alice and the family. Deedra dolin

So very sad and sorry to learn of Bob's passing. He was a trusted and loyal colleague who l i enjoyed working with 1st as a volunteer and then as a member of his administrative team at the J. Bob had a great analytical and probing mind. He never limited his horizons. He was fair, and gave one his/her freedom to explore and dream. Mild-mannered and a mensch, something not always found in the upper echelons of communal professionals. It was a honor tonbe a partner with him in so many areas of Jewish life in Cleveland.
My thoughts are with you all during these difficult days  along with my prayers for your wellbeing and future happiness.

I am just reading Bob's obituary this evening, December 22, and am so sorry to have missed the AFP Facebook notice about his passing. I would have come to the service to wish him a fond farewell. I served with Bob as part of AFP and was so grateful for his presence on so many occasions. Bob was such a gracious, kind, caring and generous soul. I am so grateful for the time he spent on this earth. I hope family members take great pride in having had such a wonderful human being in your life. Thank you for sharing him with the rest of humanity. My deepest condolences on your loss.

   I have known Bob for...well...too many years in many of his community activities, but most especially at the Lakeland Foundation.
  He was tireless, focused and a visionary in his pursuit both of excellence and helping make our community a little better in large and small ways.
   A mentor to many, a helping hand to all who asked and, above all, always a problem solver.
   His work lives on beyond his years with us.

I am sending my sincere condolences to Bob's family.  I met Bob just a few years ago when I joined the UBF-AFP fundraising cohort. Bob became an instant friend and supporter. He recommended me often and joined me on a fundraising project for the African American Cultural Gardens which he worked unselfishly during his illness, always with a smile on his face.  I wished we had more time together, I learned so much from him, but I'm very grateful for the opportunity to meet Bob Cahen. I will cherish the memories forever.

I had occasion to work with Bob when I lived and worked in Mentor.  The words gentleman, & intelligent have been used to describe Bob, I would add fast runner.  On a lighter side, Bob and I ran in the same age category in several races; I would be exhausted, Bob hardly breaking a sweat.  Good-bye my friend…

My husband Alan and I will always remember Bob as a warm, kind, intelligent, loving and generous man. He was Alice's one true love, with whom she shared forty-eight years. Bob was, without question, the absolute, favorite grandparent to our boys, Nate and Ryan. They have so many wonderful memories of Bob to cherish. From blueberry pancakes to walks by the river, the list is endless. My daughter, Candice adored Bob. She was the daughter he never had, and their connection was extraordinary. I can't thank Alice and Bob enough for the son we share. Geoff is amazing, he would move mountains for his loved ones, especially his Dad. Bob will live on in all our hearts.

I met Bob at Miami University in 1966.  We both joined a fraternity and became fast friends.  After graduation he moved back to Cleveland and I joined him a few years later when I went there for graduate school.  We worked on a project together which involved conducting a survey on a presidential campaign.  One of the later papers but our survey results on the front page - that was exciting.  

Over the years we kept in touch and whenever I would visit Cleveland we would try and get together.  I became friends with his brother Jerry in Israel and when his son Ben moved to the Washington, DC area I attended  the bris of Ben's first child.  

Bob was not a flashy guy and you could  count on him at any time to be helpful.  A mensch would perfectly describe him.  I'll miss him.

Bob, you are so missed.  By me and by all whose lives you have touched. Your energy and enthusiasm was both contagious and inspiring.     Giving back was your mission in life.  The noblest of causes.

I will always remember our breakfasts - downtown Cleveland, Mayfield and of course at your main office - Yours Truly in Mentor.  

And the excellent run we did at Holden Arboretum.

So many great memories Bob.
