

Sanford Kutash, born in Cleveland, OH on November 7, 1926 to the late Ethel (Auerbach) and Louis Kutash, passed away peacefully at 99 years old on January 17, 2026 surrounded by family. Sanford was a veteran of the navy, an admired philanthropist, and a beloved patriarch. He was the devoted husband to the late Shirley (Baumoel) Kutash, and is survived by his loving children, Mitchell Kutash (Sandy), Larry Kutash (Jody), and Janice Kutash Smiles (Gary), adored grandchildren Jason Kutash (Rachael), Steven Kutash (Maggie), Emma Maszi (Emily), Lindsay Kutash, Jonathan Kutash, and Jordan Kutash, and dearest great grandchildren Taylor, Carson, Harvey, Sadie, and Ruth.
An alum of Western Reserve, he took the skills he learned and created his own insurance agency which became a family and local legacy. Sanford was persistent, loving, and had an iconic sense of humor. He played tennis into his 80s, traveled the world, and enjoyed a dirty Shirley at happy hour with his friends until the very end.
Service will be held Wednesday, January 21,2026 at 11:00 AM at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel 1985 S. Taylor Rd. Cleveland Heights. Interment Mt. Olive Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at The Vantage Apartments- 2nd Floor Event Center, (27040 Cedar Road, Beachwood, OH 44122) following interment until 7PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Sanford's honor to B'nai Jeshurun congregation or the Cleveland Sight Center.,
