A proud U.S. Army veteran, Sheldon served his country in Germany during the 1960s. After his military service, he went on to spend his career as a skilled metal worker with Textron, later known as TRW, where he contributed to the production of machine parts.
Sheldon was known for his kind and easygoing nature. He cherished his friendships and loved spending time with those he cared about. He had a deep affection for his parents, and his stories about growing up, including his time delivering newspapers for the Cleveland Press, brought a smile to many.
An avid collector and enthusiast, Sheldon spent countless hours at garage sales, flea markets, and car shows. He found great joy in attending Cleveland Guardians (formerly Indians) baseball games and classical music concerts, often accompanied by his dear friend Herold.
Sheldon will be fondly remembered by his dedicated caregiver, Brian McGeever, and close friend, Josh Gibberman, both of whom were a source of support and companionship in his later years.
A service to celebrate Sheldon’s life will be held on Sunday, September 7th, at 3:30 p.m. at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel (1985 S. Taylor Road, Cleveland Heights, OH). Interment will follow at Zion Memorial Park (5461 Northfield Road, Bedford Heights, OH). Family and friends are invited to join for a gathering in Sheldon’s honor at 56 Kitchen in Mayfield Heights, where they will continue to celebrate his life until 8:00 p.m.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel.
