

Sondra (Sandy) Rubenstein (née Pilloff), age 89, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, in Pepper Pike, Ohio. She was a devoted wife, cherished mother, adoring grandmother, loving daughter, and a wonderful friend to many.
Sandy was born to Max and Lillian Pilloff (both of blessed memory) in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Cleveland Heights High School in 1954 and Western Reserve University in 1959. She was married to Ronald (Ronnie) M. Rubenstein (of blessed memory) for 50 years and was the loving mother of Kenneth, Gerald (of blessed memory) and Judy (Adam) Swirsky, adoring grandmother of Alexandra Swirsky, Eli Swirsky, Melissa Rubenstein and Nicole Rubenstein, sister of Benson Pilloff, and cherished companion of Stanley Grossman.
Sandy greatly enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and dear friends. During their marriage, Sandy and Ronnie traveled the world, were enthusiastic supporters of the arts, particularly the Cleveland orchestra, and Cleveland sports teams. Sandy and Ronnie enjoyed “antiquing” and collecting unique items found during their travels. They frequently entertained, and Sandy set beautiful tables for her guests. Sandy was a devoted mother and enjoyed traveling with her children and grandchildren, which created beautiful memories for everyone. Sandy adored her grandchildren and loved supporting them by attending their sporting events, piano and dance recitals, or any other activity they were involved in. Sandy was a lifelong bridge player, loved to read and was incredibly active and health conscious her whole life. She also supported many animal rescue organizations. She was very involved in several Jewish organizations, including ORT, Hadassah, and NA’AMAT USA, and was a member of Suburban Temple-Kol Ami for over 40 years.
Funeral services will be held at Berkowitz Kumin Bookatz Memorial Chapel on Friday, December 19 at 10:00am with interment immediately following at Mt. Olive Cemetery at 27855 Aurora Road, Solon, OH. To view this service, scroll down to the Services section and click on “JOIN LIVESTREAM”.
Shiva will be at the family residence (3503 Courtland Road, Pepper Pike 44122) from 1-4PM on Friday, 6-8PM Saturday, December 20th and 1-4PM Sunday, December 21.
Donations may be made in memory of Sandy to any of the organizations she was involved with, PAWS Ohio, or Rescue Village in Geauga County.
