I’ve been to this page at least 40 times with the intent to post something but  I exit back out. It’s just too painful but I know I cannot hide from reality and reality is I lost my brother. I lost someone that would take his time to message me in Facebook and brighten my day, a brother, someone I looked up to, someone I loved. 14 days ago we were about to turn onto our churches street to go to church when my son called and said he’s gone. The disbelief was real. I skipped church and took that trip to Ohio so I could make the funeral arrangements. David’s house no longer felt the same. I didn’t even want to be there that Sunday. I have so many memories of my brother David. We fought as kids and he always claimed I would win the fights because my mother would punish him if he fought back (nope). He just brought that up again about a month ago. As a kid he would sing Yellow Poked Dot Bikini to me to get on my nerves because I had a bikini like that and that’s something he has never stopped teasing me about. Now who’s going to get on my nerves and sing that? No one! David was always right in everything he said. It didn’t matter the few times he was wrong, he was right! David was a highly intelligent man. He was caring. He was very sarcastic, but never meant it in a mean way to anyone. He had jokes. I could go on and on but there’s nothing that I can put into words to make anyone understand what he meant to me. I lost my brother but not my memories. I’ll hold onto the memories until I see him again.

I don’t really know what to say — it’s hard to put this pain into words. It feels like God made a mistake, even though I know He called my uncle home. But the truth is, his passing is torturous. The grief is heavy, and many of us are still trying to make sense of life without him.
Uncle David was more than family and friend to many. He was a gentle, thoughtful man who always seemed to notice when someone else was struggling — and he never hesitated to lend a hand, even when he didn’t have to. That’s the kind of person he was: giving, loving, and endlessly kind.
The memories we shared together will last a lifetime. They’re a part of us now, woven into who we are. And while he may be gone from this world, his love, his laughter, and his legacy will always live on in our hearts.
Until we meet again, Uncle David.
