Jose “Big Ox” Colón, 45, transitioned from this life with the same powerful spirit that defined every step he took. Born into a family rooted in love, loyalty, and strength, Jose lived with a boldness that made him unforgettable to all who crossed his path.
Jose is now reunited in eternal peace with his mother, father, and oldest brother — a family circle made whole again. He is survived by his beloved son, Adriel “Pee Wee” Colón, and his devoted sister, Jocelyn Colón.
His family invites the community to join them in honoring and celebrating his life.
A lifelong lover of Hip Hop, Jose carried the heartbeat of the culture with him everywhere he went. The rhythms, the stories, the grit, the truth — it all lived in his spirit. If you knew Jose, you knew he lived by the code: loyalty first, love always, and authenticity above everything.
As Wu-Tang once said, “The sun don’t shine forever, but as long as it’s here then we might as well shine together.” Jose shined in his own way — loud, real, and impossible to forget. His presence filled the room; his laugh carried; his energy lifted people even on their worst days.
Though his physical journey has ended, the legacy of Big Ox lives on in the stories people will continue to tell, the music that will forever remind them of him, and the family who will honor him for the rest of their lives.
May he rest in power, surrounded by the beats he loved and the family he missed.
