Luz’s life began under difficult circumstances. As an infant, she was found by a working man who heard the sound of a baby crying in the streets and ensured she was brought to someone who could care for her. Her early years were not easy, but they forged in her a quiet strength that would shape the woman she became. From the very beginning, she learned how to endure and later, how to transform endurance into compassion.
She was a devoted mother to three children, Joel, Jezrael, and Janice, from a previous marriage. From the moment she became a mother, her life centered entirely around her children. Every sacrifice she made, every challenge she faced, and every hardship she endured was so her children could have better opportunities than she ever had. Luz later met and married her second husband, Zacarias Roldan, with whom she shared a meaningful chapter of life grounded in perseverance, faith, and mutual respect.
Born from struggle, Luz never allowed hardship to define her. Like pressure that turns coal into a diamond, she transformed adversity into strength and opportunity. She moved to the United States with three small children, no English, and no guarantees just armed with determination, faith, and an unbreakable will. One of her proudest accomplishments was achieving her dream of homeownership. That home became more than a house; it became a sanctuary. If someone needed a place to stay, a warm meal, or a listening ear, Luz was there. Her home was always open, and over the years, many people lived under her roof. She believed deeply in the goodness of others and gave freely of herself. Even when her trust was betrayed, she extended forgiveness to those who sought it. Her capacity for grace knew no bounds. Luz Maria Vazquez was a mother to many beyond her own children. She guided lost souls, counseled those in need of direction, and offered love without judgment or expectation. She gave without keeping score and loved without condition.
She was strength.
She was faith.
She was love.
She was pure light.
Luz is survived by her children, Jezrael, Joel and Janice; her husband, Zacarias Roldan; and the many lives she touched through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering compassion. Her legacy lives on not only in what she overcame, but in how she loved.
