Born in Parta, Serbia, to the late Aleksandar and Vukosava Stojanov, Mara carried her roots, faith, and traditions with her wherever life took her. After spending one year in Austria, she immigrated to the United States, where she built a beautiful life devoted to family, service, and faith.
Mara was the loving and devoted mother of Zoran (Lorraine) Stojkov, the cherished Baba of Maria (Garrett) Pickrel and Alexander Stojkov, and the proud great-Baba of Austin Pickrel. She was a dear sister to Milisav Stojanov. Her family was her greatest joy, and she nurtured them with a gentle heart, quiet strength, and unconditional love.
A woman of deep faith, Mara was a devout Christian who faithfully attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel, St. Helena Romanian Church, and St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church. She volunteered her time at St. Helena, always seeking ways to give back and serve others with humility and grace.
Mara lived a life rooted in kindness and care. She was family-oriented, nurturing, and peaceful by nature. She enjoyed staying active, valued her health, and found simple joy in shopping, cooking, and caring for those she loved. An excellent cook, she expressed her love through her meals, her presence, and her quiet acts of devotion.
Those who knew Mara will remember her gentle spirit, her unwavering faith, and the calm, loving way she made everyone feel at home. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the faith she practiced, and the love she shared so selflessly.
