

It is with great sadness that we announced the passing of our beloved Marvin Pippen who departed this life on September 18, 2025, at the age of 69. Marvin was cherished by family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Born on January 4, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio. Marvin was the second child of Herbert & Ruby Pippen. From an early age, Marvin demonstrated a passion for music, especially “Smooth Jazz” with favorite artists such as Najee, Norman Brown, Grover Washington etc. His phone became his “boom box” link to the jazz music world. Marvin also loved Cars.
Marvin attended Glenville High School where he met his loving wife, Cynthia Harris. Marvin was in the Band and Cynthia was on the Cheerleading Squad. They both graduated together in the Class of 1973. Marvin later went on to Bowling Green State University where he received his degree, Bachelor of Science in Technology in May 1986. Marvin was also a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. Marvin excelled academically and formed lifelong friendships.
Marvin pursued a career in Technology where he was known for his dedication, integrity, performance and kindness. He made significant contributions to several Companies, General Telephone Company of Ohio, B.P., Jenkins Construction Company, Wright Construction Company, and lastly The City of Cleveland. Marvin earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and peers.
Marvin was a devoted husband. He married Cynthia in 1989, and together they built a loving home. There were no children born to this loving couple however, they welcomed a host of nieces and nephews.
Marvin’s loved ones who preceded him in death were his father Herbert Pippen, brother Kenneth Pippen, mother-in-law Mary B. Harris, brother in laws Reginald Harris and Christopher Mays.
Marvin is survived by his devoted & loving wife of 36 years Cynthia Pippen, mother Ruby Pippen, siblings Brenda Braden (John) Ron Pippen (Felicia), and Janet (Carl), sisters-in-law Valencia Bulger, Lateefa Jaamey, Cecilia E. Harris, Lisa Harris Gaines, Crystal Bell, Antoniette Maddox, brothers-in law Lestley Harris, Mitchell Harris (Ethel), Kevin Harris and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Those who knew Marvin will remember him for his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support. He touched countless lives with his kindness and left an indelible mark on the world.
