Monica was the beloved wife of 50 years to Joseph Akoury, who preceded her in death on April 5, 2021.
She was the loving mother of Nick (Adrienne) and Gina (David) Helton; cherished grandmother of Thomas Jones, Troy Jones, Priscilla (Brandon) Ardillo, Gage Nagy, Audry Harte, Madison (Jon) Paracsi, Hannah Harte, and James Helton; and proud great-grandmother of Noelle Paracsi and Braylen and Paisley Ardillo. She was the dear sister of Lainie, Becky, and York, and the adored aunt of Bernie, Mike, Richie, Eddie, Robert, and Clay.
A natural entrepreneur, Monica co-owned and operated a tropical fish wholesale supply company, a pet store, and a flower shop. She later devoted 30 years to Marc’s Grocery Store, where she held various roles and ultimately served as manager.
"Moe" as she was known by family and friends was a strong and determined woman—tough-minded, protective, and devoted to her family. She embraced a nurturing, guiding role. Loved by all who knew her, Moe had a spirited personality and a gift for drawing people together.
A die-hard Cleveland sports fan, she proudly cheered on the Browns and the Indians. Monica had a love for music and Gordon Lightfoot was a favorite of hers, but her favorite song was Blue on Black by Kenny Wayne Shepherd. It was a pleasure to know Moe.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home, 14768 Lorain Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio.
