Ora Pearl Reed

Ora confessed in Christ at an early age and united with the St. John Baptist Church in Edgewater, AL. under the pastorate of the late Rev. F. H. Houston. She attended Edgewater Junior from K-9th grade then Westfield High School where she graduated in 1959.

Ora worked for the East Cleveland Board of Education System from 1984 to 1999.

Ora departed this life on December 22, 2019 at University Hospitals of Cleveland.

Ora was preceded in death by her father, Lathan Jemison, Sr.; mother, Maggie Jemison; three brothers, Lathan Jemison, Jr. “Sonny” of Alexandria, VA, Rudolph Jemison “Rudy” of Cleveland, OH, and Barney McKinstry of Gordo, AL; three sisters, Annie P. Miller of Ellenville, NY, Barbara Jean Muse of Birmingham, AL, and Vesta Lee Jemison of Spring Valley, NY.

Ora leaves to cherish her memories six children, Sharon D. Henderson of Hoover, AL, Vicki D. Patterson (Stewart) of Desoto, TX, Karen L. Morgan of Gardena, CA, Iola Rosita Jemison of Cleveland, OH, and twins Eunice Patricia Reed of Dolomite, AL and Evans Reed, Jr. (Lakeisha) of McCalla, AL.; two sisters, Iola J. Foy of Cleveland, OH and Betty Jean Jackson of Birmingham, AL; one brother-in-law, Freddie Miller of Ellenville, NY; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a special friend, Samuel Ezell of Cleveland, OH; and a host of other relatives and friends.
