Robert Lee Whitaker was born on December 7, 1930 in Warrington, Georgia and moved to Cleveland, Ohio at a young age. He was the first child of Dora Lee Whitaker. Robert had fond memories of his childhood; he often spoke about his mother playing lots of games with him because there were no other kids for him to play with.
Robert was a hard worker throughout his lifetime. He worked for many years at and retired from US Steel Corporation. During his young adulthood, Robert even helped his mother support his younger brothers and sisters.
Three of Robert's siblings proceded him into Heaven. William Whitaker (Barbara), Dorothy Whitaker, and Daisy Whitaker-Brigdeman (Carlos). Up until his passing, Robert was revered as the family patriatch by his siblings Idelia Trapp, Henry Whitaker (Martha), and Mary Joiner (Robert).
Robert was affectionately called "The Duke" because he enjoyed watching Westerns and mostly known as Uncle Bob by his many nephews and neices, great nephews and nieces, great-great nephews and nieces, and great-great- great nephews and nieces.
Throughout his young adulthood and golden years, Robert was married to Otha who preceded him in death. They were joined in matrimony for nearly 60 years, and now they are together again in Heaven experiencing Eternal Joy.
