Barbara C. Fitzgerald

Barbara C. Fitzgerald, age 91 of Westbrook passed away on July 22, 2012. Barbara was born in Hartford, CT on July 22, 1921 to the late Nora (Harris) and Jeremiah Collins. Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her loving husband William Fitzgerald; sister Geraldine Tomkiel; and brother Edward Collins. She is survived by her sons James (Kathryn) Fitzgerald of Clinton, Thomas (Kathleen)Fitzgerald of Clinton; brother Jeremiah Collins of Simsbury, brother in-law Anthony Tomkiel of Windsor Locks; grandchildren Jennifer Owens, Kathryn Johnson, James Fitzgerald, Jr., Timothy Fitzgerald, Kristin Fitzgerald, as well as great grandchildren Rylan and Jayden.

Barbara is originally from the Hartford area but spent most of her life in the Clinton, Westbrook areas. She was a homemaker and in her younger years worked for the Health Department for the City of Hartford. Barbara was a parishioner of St. Mary Church of the Visitation in Clinton. She was a past member of the Clinton Women’s Club as well as a past member of the Clinton Estuary Council. Barbara loved spending time with her family and friends and was an avid reader.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church of the Visitation in Clinton followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will take place at 2:30 PM that afternoon at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield.
