Eileen O’Day, 66, of Clinton, CT, formerly of Chester, CT, passed away after a brief illness on January 7, 2025 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, CT, in the company of her family and dearest friends.
Born in New Britain, CT, she was the daughter of William and Irene (Sakmar) O’Day.
Eileen grew up in Clinton. As a young teenager she loved learning ballet and rose to be an assistant instructor to her ballet teacher. In high school, she was on The Morgan School’s girls' basketball team, achieving “high scorer” in a number of games, and she graduated in 1976.
While raising her two children in Chester, she earned an Associate degree in Accounting at Middlesex Community College. She loved small-town Chester where she had many lifelong loving friends across multiple generations, especially those on the Junior Woman’s Club. She always had a smile and a wave for just about everyone she passed in town. Using her accounting skills she worked at Mount Saint John school, New Haven Savings Bank, and other area businesses. Eileen also exercised her creative and personable sides by working as a floral arranger and as a hostess at the Goodspeed Opera House. She adored young children and was always happy to step in at a moment’s notice to babysit for any of her friends. The job she once held as an elementary school mini-bus driver was not work to her!
She is survived by her two sons, Justin Dewolf and Thomas Dewolf. She is also survived by her sister Nancy Riggs, niece Sara Riggs, and brothers Richard (Carol) O’Day and Timothy O’Day.
A celebration of life will be held in the future.
