

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Rayner, 91, of Killingworth, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital. She was the wife of the late Beryl Rayner. Born in New Haven on April 19, 1930, she was the daughter of late John and Mabel Kretz Leonard.
Betty attended school in New Haven and graduated from St Mary’s Academy in 1948. She lived in Madison for 18 years while married to her first husband. The late harry R. Darling Sr. Betty was the Assistant Treasurer and Branch Manager for the Union Trust Bank in Madison. She was a Supervisor for the accounting Department at Connecticut Water Company for many years before her retirement in 1991. She lived in Deep River for 17 years before moving to Killingworth in 1999.
Betty enjoyed traveling with her husband Beryl and stays at their campsite at Gardner Lake. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her cherished family.
Betty is survived by her two sons Larry and Gary Darling. Five step children; James and David Rayner, Kathy Gifford, Cheryl Kosky, and Lisa Early. She’s also survives by 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Beryl she was predeceased by her son Harry Darling; her daughter, Mary Powell: stepson Gary S. Rayner; brother, John Leonard and sister Regina Rossi. Betty is also predeceased by her first husband Harry R. Darling Sr.
Calling hours will be held Friday, December 3 from 11 to 12 PM at The Swan Funeral Home 80 East Main St., Clinton, CT. Followed by service at 12 pm. Burial at Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River, CT
