God and family were her greatest devotions in life. Being a mother and then “Gigi” to her grandchildren were her greatest joys.
In youth, Kathleen was unafraid to join a myriad of scholastic clubs, play guitar for a local rock band and compete in watersports. Her newspaper route as a teenager earned her first acoustic guitar, a Yamaha FG-335 which she played with true passion and was eventually passed down to her son along with her musical wisdom.
Her affinity and talent for art led her to become a fine arts graduate from the University of Hartford in 1987. Kathleen then went on to dedicate over 30 years as a graphic designer at Electric Boat. A creative soul through and through, Kathleen wrote and illustrated children's books, loved to design gifts which exhibited family memories, and framed her original artwork – as well as notably her daughter's, who inherited her mother’s talent.
Kathleen cared deeply for her dogs, birds, cats, hamsters and bunny rabbits who all lived in the radiance of her love and were drawn to her gentle nature. Horses were special to her, caring for them was an important part of her upbringing and they brought her joy throughout life.
She was blessed to see much of the world. Kathleen loved a good road trip, dared to traverse Grand Teton on horseback, beheld the arts of Italy and France, on and on she went. All were excited to be part of travel with Kathy as she was the best of companions, planners and explorers.
Kathleen had an endless love for her family, creating countless joyful memories in her presence. This love was absolute and unwavering, and she gave her full support as caregiver to her mother and father in their final years alongside her dear brother and sister.
She is preceded in death by her father, Frank Guinan, mother, Frances Guinan, and brother, Edward Guinan.
Kathleen is survived by her son, Kevin Johnson, daughter, Erin McCue (Johnson), grandchildren, Christian and Paxton McCue, sister, Debbie Guinan-Morizio, and brother, Robert Guinan.
