Mary Elizabeth (Javor) Oakes, 72, of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, surrounded by her family. Known as Marybeth to her family and friends, she was born on March 29, 1953, to the late Walter and Anna (Brooks) Javor in Bourne, MA.
Marybeth spent most of her life in Clinton, CT, where she grew up and was a proud graduate of Morgan High School. She raised her children in Bristol and later moved to Southington in her final years to be closer to her daughter.
Throughout her life, Marybeth held various jobs, including working for SNET/SBC for over 20 years. However, her most significant role was that of a dedicated single mother. In her early 20s, she raised her two children, Timothy and Elisabeth, who continue to be in awe of the sacrifices their mother made for them. Their fondest memories include the times they spent together traveling and experiencing new adventures.
Marybeth attended many churches in the communities where she lived, making numerous friends due to her genuine, beautiful, and loving nature. She also had a deep affection for her pets; her beloved fur babies—Papi, Berkeley, Chelsea, and Skippy—brought immense joy to her life and were cherished companions.
Marybeth is survived by her children, Timothy Oakes of Edmond, OK and Elisabeth Oakes of Plainville, CT, her bonus daughters, Shawna Oakes and Laura Onisto, and her grandchildren, Mackenzie (Spears) Merrill and her husband Kevin, as well as Philip and Jacob Oakes. She is also survived by her beloved siblings: David Javor of Deep River, CT, Paul Javor and his wife Patty of Warren, VT, and Nancy Javor of Clinton, CT. Marybeth had a great fondness for her nieces and nephews: Kevin and Anna (Shope) Javor, Caitlin (Javor) and Tim Rivera, Ryan Javor, and Anna (Javor) & Evan Taylor. She will be deeply missed by countless cousins, family, and friends. In addition to her parents, Marybeth is predeceased by her sister-in-law, Debra (Cronin) Javor, and her stepmother, Gloria (Voets) Javor.
