

Dr. Richard “Doc” M. Kaufman, DDS, 77, of Clinton, passed away peacefully on Tues, March 2, 2010 at his home, after a long illness. He leaves his wife Dr. Parul Shah and his beloved dog Bailey. Doc was born in New London on March 25, 1932 to the late Charles and Ida (Slosberg) Kaufman, MD. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the Navy. Doc attended the University of Connecticut and received his BS and DDS from Temple University School of Dentistry, and then started his dental practice in Clinton in 1960. He was a member of the American Dental Association, the Connecticut Dental Association, New London County Dental Association, and a Credentialed member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Doc was a Clinton resident for 50 years, a member of the Jeptha Lodge No.95 A.F. & A.M. in Clinton, and was a Shriner, a past president of the Lions’ Club, and a member of the Westbrook Elks Lodge BPOE #1784, and former Harbor Master in Clinton. He was an avid boater, fisherman, UConn women’s basketball team fan. Doc loved Florida, taking his RV to Naples. Memorial services will be held Sunday March 7, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at the Clinton Country Club.
