I’m so sorry for your loss. I actually just saw about the passing of your Mom. 
I met lovely Velma about  ten years ago when we both attended a grief support group in Madison.  Velma had lost her husband and I had lost my young sister. 
I could tell right away what a wonderful lady she was. We even got together once for lunch and chatted for hours. 
May all your special memories of your beautiful Mom help comfort you at this difficult time. 



Velma and I shared lovely moments these last several years chatting about life, love and loss…and about our precious pets. She was a beautiful being and I cherish having known her. She will be forever in my thoughts and in my heart. I wish her family peace and joy in the memory of her life. 🌹

Velma, was probably one of the most amazing women I’ve ever called a dear friend.  She was always there for me with advice, love and prayers when I went through difficult times.  I could talk to her about anything.  We have never had a cross word in all the many years I’ve known her.  I loved her like a sister. Our children grew up together.  I’m so sad that she is gone but know that she and Bob are in each others arms in heaven.  To Robert, Michele, Elaina, Paul and Angela …. You have another special angel looking after you.   You all made her life complete and happy.  I love you all 💗

So much to say about my dear friend ,my “bud”.  She was a marvel so filled wit life and certainly touched my life and the lives of our family.  She was so much a part of us.  
A woman of faith  who was always there for me.  Not to mention the fun we shared as well. We shared so much of our family life.  I have lots of stories of all our times together both here and in Florida.

Mom was an extraordinary woman and mother.

Whatever life presented, she moved forward with resilience and grace. She was exceptionally strong. Never to be kept down, she found light and love in every situation.

Her humor, stories and advice always brightened my day. I will remember it all daily. 

We bonded in so many ways. Like me, she had a love of art, nature and dogs. 

Her independence was unrivaled.

Mom you will always be an inspiration to me.

My parents moved to New Haven from Queens, New York in October, 1951.  I started the 4th grade at Sacred Heart School and the only classmate I remember is Velma.  She welcomed me at recess that first day and became a treasured  friend and memory especially in Mrs. Lynch's classroom.   We went on to different high schools and years later the Lord brought us back together in Christian Community.  Those years were some of the happiest of our lives and I thank God for your Mom & Dad - so kind, generous, thoughtful and fun-loving and we shopped, cooked and vacationed together on many occasions.  I Look forward to the day we will be together again.  Love and Prayers!

"Auntie Velma" to me,  I have such fond memories of vacationing on the Cape, time in the Community in New Haven, dinners at their house, retreats in New Hampshire, and a LOT of laughs.  She was funny, (sometimes brutally!) honest, and yet sweet and kind and in some ways like another 'mom' to me during my early and later teenage years. My mom and I were able to meet her for lunch a few years ago and reconnect and it was so good to spend time with her and reminisce. I was also able to speak to her by phone a few times during the last year which I am so grateful for and will truly treasure in my heart. Her sense of humor, her faith, her outlook on life even with all she was going through, were so refreshing and inspiring.  And although I was supposed to be checking in on her, I was the one who came away deeply touched by the few conversations we were able to have.  My deepest prayers and sympathy are with her children (esp my friend Michelle) as well as her family and I truly mourn with them at her passing.
