Born on June 1, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Kenneth and Lucy (Abdey) Pollard, Cheryl graduated from Redford High School in 1968. She went on to build a beautiful life; marrying, raising a family, and dedicating over 30 years to a meaningful career in healthcare.
Her professional journey included more than a decade at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, where she supervised Customer Service Representatives before transitioning to her role as a Physician Consultant, with a territory covering the entire thumb region of Michigan. A lifelong learner, Cheryl returned to college alongside her daughter Aimee and, at the age of 63, proudly graduated magna cum laude from Baker College.
She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Duwaun Daniel, and her beloved children: Kimberly Cooper (Gary), Aimee Jacques (Larry), Michelle Wing (Doug), Michael Courtney, Chuck Courtney (Jennifer), Meghan Garetson (Latane), Tina Daniel (Carl), and Darren Daniel (Jamie). A proud grandmother of seventeen and great-grandmother of seven, Cheryl found joy in watching her family grow. She is also survived by her dear siblings, Dawn Pollard (Bob Fieber) and Mark Pollard (Louise), as well as her sister-in-law, Phyllis Felker. Cheryl’s memory will also be cherished by her cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of extended family and friends.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her daughter Sarah Courtney, whose absence she felt deeply every day and looked forward to the day they would be together again in Heaven. Cheryl was also preceded in death by her brothers, Kurt Pollard (Helen) and Mikey Pollard; her sister, Lori Pollard; and her cherished cousin and best friend, Cynthia “Cindy Lou” Planker, all of whom she held close in her heart.
Cheryl had a gift for friendship and cherished the time she spent at both the New Baltimore and Lenox Senior Centers where she formed close friendships. She especially enjoyed playing hand and foot, bingo, and going on outings with friends that brought her joy over the years. As snowbirds, the winters she and Duwaun spent in Delray Beach, Florida, were especially meaningful to her. Their close-knit circle of friends there became like family, sharing many sunny days and heartfelt memories together.
Cheryl’s faith was an important part of her life, and her church community at First Presbyterian Church of Mount Clemens held a special place in her heart. Through her involvement, she found strength, purpose, and a sense of connection. She was especially inspired by the sermons of Pastor Kathy Nealand, and treasured the friendships, traditions, and sense of belonging that her faith community provided.
A true green thumb, Cheryl could make anything bloom. Her gardens were a reflection of her spirit—vibrant, nurturing, and full of life. She brought beauty into the world not only through her flowers but through the kindness she gave so freely. Cheryl will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the joy of knowing her.
