She was born on June 4, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, to Joseph and Clara Kowalski. Cynthia was raised in St. Clair Shores and graduated from Regina High School. She remained devoted to her Catholic faith throughout her life and was most recently a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
Cynthia worked for many years as a real estate agent, a career through which she connected with and helped many people. In her free time, she enjoyed creating jewelry, often working with beads and pendants. Above all, Cynthia cherished her family and friends. She was always there for others—offering support, advice, and care—and was deeply involved in the lives of those she loved.
She was married to her beloved husband, Stephen, for almost 30 years, sharing many happy memories together until his passing in 2022. They especially enjoyed spending several weeks each year traveling to Florida.
Cynthia is survived by her loving children, Dawn (Jeffrey) Kotas, Jason Snook, and Lyda Stanzione; her grandchildren, Corbin Kotas and Jillian Kotas; her brother, Jerome (Amy) Kowalski and his children, Jami, Evan, and Kyle Kowalski; her niece, Cheryl Boike; and her nephew, Doug Faucher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Mendlewski; her parents, Joseph and Clara Kowalski; her sister, Joan Kowich; and her companion of the last three years, Rick Martz.
Funeral services will be private. The family will hold a memorial service at St. John Vianney Parish in Shelby Twp. in late spring.
