David Robert Harrison, 82, of Macomb Township, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 27, 1943 in Wolverhampton, England, to Robert and Audrey (Braddock) Harrison. Dave’s journey took him from England to Canada to the Motor City, where he built a respected career as a Middle Market Commercial Lender at NBD Bank after serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
When he wasn’t balancing the books or serving with the Kiwanis Club, Dave was usually found chasing a golf ball, winning at the Euchre table, or cheering for his favorite team, the Detroit Red Wings. As a classic car enthusiast, he had a special place in his heart for a classic Ford Mustang convertible.
Dave - a devoted husband, father, and legendary “Poppa” - was a giver. Whether it was his time, his wisdom, or his secret stash of dog treats for his four-legged companions, he gave boundlessly. He loved music; he loved his dogs; and he loved the thrill of the open road—but nothing compared to the love he had for his family. He joyfully attended to his grandchildren and was their biggest fan at their activities and games. Nothing brought him more joy than time spent surrounded by those he loved most.
He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, sharp wit, and a family who will forever miss his one liner remarks and his gracious heart. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Sharon Harrison, two daughters, Shelley Alwardt (John Alwardt) and Erica Battin (Michael Battin), five grandkids (Megan, Ethan, Sophie, Jonathan, and Jude), and his sister, Margaret (Randy) Vitek and many extended family members.
In accordance with Dave’s wishes, no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Parkinson’s Foundation or your local Humane Society. It would be a fitting tribute to his resilience and his deep love for his furry friends.
