

Richter, Dietrich J. “Dee”, of Fraser, passed away on December 13, 2017, at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Mary Jean. Dee was born in Detroit on February 23, 1935, the son of the late Roy and Helen (O'Dell) Richter. He was raised in Dundee, MI and graduated from Dundee High School in 1952. He received his B.A. Degree in 1956 from Michigan State University, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. In 1963 he received a Masters Degree from the University of Michigan. He served two years in the U.S. Army, being stationed at the Sixth Army Headquarters at the Presidio in San Francisco and at the Headquarters of the United States European Command in Paris, France. He was an English and a speech teacher for two years at Almont High School, and for thirty years at L'Anse Creuse High School in Harrison Township, where he was also the Head of the English Department for 15 years. He retired in 1990. He was married in Mt. Clemens on November 18, 1961 to Mary Jean Lentsch. He was a member of the Michigan State University Alumni Association and the University of Michigan Alumni Association. He is survived by his wife, a son, Mark, a brother, Samuel of Ann Arbor, and two nephews, Samuel and Steven Richter, and a niece, Sara Richter.
The family will greet friends at a memorial visitation from 1pm-6pm on Saturday, December 30 at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield, Clinton Twp., MI
