Uncle Don, it's been 7 years since you've been gone- but I know you're still around all of us. I know you're watching your kids raise their own kids, and you're watching your grandchildren grow up. I know you're seeing all of this and I know you're watching over all of them, and us. I know you're up there with grandma now, too... you are both so, so loved and missed.

Dear Don, My First Born Son,

Summer is almost over, but it is warm today. Today is Sunday. On Sundays you always called me several times to ask "Mom, how are you doing?" You were such a kind, caring, loving son. That and many other things you said and did are still in my heart. Going on little trips like Frankenmuth with you and your family. The good times we had during the holidays, the cookouts you and Laura had with family, neighbors, and friends. This year there were no cookouts with chili dogs, burgers, potato salad, and so many other goodies. No more cookouts but I will never forget them, and I am so happy to have them to remember. So precious to me. Thank you son, for giving me these memories. Now you can rest in peace. The whole family really loves and remembers you Don, you are forever in our hearts. Watch over all of us. I love you very much and always will. I miss you so much, dear son.

Uncle Don, it's been a year, and we still think of you everyday. We're all missing you so much. Lindsay put together a beautiful calendar for Grandma with all different pictures of you... it's really nice. We just hung up my mom's favorite picture of you on our living room wall. You're so loved and missed by all of us. And now you have a beautiful grandson to look down on from heaven.

A day I miss you more than the other days of the week, because you were off work and called me several times to see how I was doing. You showed so much love towards me and the whole family. This summer there were no cook-outs, you were gone...but you were in our hearts. Now there is no more pain, no illness or worries for you. Wishing you rest and peace. Uncle Don,
We brought Grandma to see you on Sunday.  She misses you so much.  It was so peaceful and the weather was beautiful, it's like you kept the sun shining for us, expecting our arrival. Jason and Madison are so excited for their baby, I know you'd be so proud. It's like you gave them the gift of a new life when you couldn't keep on going in yours.  They don't want to know if it's a boy or a girl...but no matter what it is, he or she will always be a constant reminder of you.

Don was a dear loving, caring son. He called me every day to see how I was. He did many things for me. I love him very much. He will always be in my heart. I will miss him greatly. He had such a loving heart and thought so much for our whole family. He liked to cook, especially spaghetti sauce, and having a barbeque at different holidays. I love you Don. Love, your Mom.

I always meant to stop by and say hi or cll and say hi. But the longer it got the easy the excuses were not too. Even though it has been a while since I last saw you, you will be missed. I guess never take things for granted as how long we will be here. You were a great friend. Rest in peace.

I met Don on the 6th grade winter camp bus in January. We were 12 and he was whispering to somebody that he liked me. You know how kids are, acting all giggly. After that he would call me and sometimes ride over to my house. That was all there ever was to it. I went on to high school and so on and never heard from him again. For some reason he popped into my mind today. So, I looked him up. I was very surprised to see his obituary. My prayers are with you, his family. He was way too young and it makes me realize how very short life can be!

 My deepest sympathies in the loss of your dear Dad. Having experienced such a loss of a young person and Father with my own nieces and nephews I know the pain and suffrering that yoou are going through-it is not easy and the loss is so very great. I wish for you many fond cherished memories and after a while peace in your hearts and lives. He will always be there on your shoulder watching over and guiding you. Dear Uncle Don,
I am so sorry that you were so misunderstood. I can't apologize enough for not seeing sooner how sick you really were. Our family has never been the quiet type; holiday & birthday functions consist of everybody trying to talk over eachother, but I have never felt sooo much love & peace in that hospital room with nobody in our family saying one word (which is so uncommon for us).  The nurses were so amazed at how we managed to fit 15 people in your small room, surrounding you and quietly praying for your peaceful entrance to Heaven. I promise that if love had the ability to heal the sick & gotten you out of that bed, you'd be flourishing. May the Angels lead you in, Uncle Don.  I know you're in a warm, bright, happy place, where there is no pain or sadness, and no judgement or criticism...a much better place than this world that the rest of us are stuck in. We'll all meet again one day.


PS: Keep Grandma safe, watch over her, and give her the courage to move forward & stay strong.

Don, i remember talking to you when Larry and I  would stop by to visit you at your house and at a  couple of weddings in the family. I was with your brother Larry and your family at the hospital during your stay. I prayed for you and for your family during that time and will continue to do so. Your brother Larry and I wish you peace and give u our love.

Donald, I wish that I had been able to help more. Thank you for teaching me to take nothing for granted. You had a good heart and are greatly missed by all of us. Love Denise

I can't begin to explain how much this has impacted me- I always assumed my family and loved ones would always be here.. now I know that's not true.. but you'll always be in my heart, and everyone else's.
