Douglas Christopher Holden, 83, passed away on May 4, 2026. Born February 8, 1943, Douglas was a resident of Sterling Heights, Michigan. He will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who had the privilege to know him.
A devoted and beloved husband, father, family man, and proud Veteran, Douglas held his loved ones closest to his heart. Above all else, he adored his family, and his steady presence reflected a life shaped by loyalty, honesty, and a kind-hearted spirit that was felt in both quiet moments and everyday acts of care. His proudest family moments were watching the Dondero Marching Band and celebrating the children’s graduations.
Douglas was hard-working and dedicated throughout his career, including his work designing tank turrets for Michigan Tank. He approached his responsibilities with diligence and integrity, earning the trust of those around him through consistent effort and a straightforward, honorable way of living.
His interests reflected an energetic, engaged life. From Boy Scouts and R.O.T.C. - including being awarded the Pro Deo Et Patria (For God and Country) award in Boy Scouts - to the simple pleasures he loved, Douglas found meaning in participation, discipline, and time well spent. He enjoyed baseball, softball, swimming, R.O.T.C., boxing with Uncle Donny, remote control cars, flying kites, and camping. He also gave his time in service to others as Band Booster President, supporting young musicians and the community.
Douglas lived by principles he valued and shared plainly. His words, “Respect others and do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” remain a fitting reflection of the standards he upheld and the example he set.
Douglas is survived by his children: Michael (Lora), Colleen, and Timothy (Erin); grandchildren: Roxann, Vincent, Alexandra, Grace, Faith, and Hope; and sister, Linda.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Susan, and parents: Rose and Clarence.
Visitation will be held at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Rd, Clinton Township, MI on Monday, May 11, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The Funeral Service will follow at Kaul Funeral Home at 1pm.
