Douglas Alan Podgorski, 52, passed away in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family on January 2, 2021. Doug was a hero as he fought a courageous battle against brain cancer, always showing his strength and humor.
Doug will be missed every day by his wife, Julie, of 19 years, sons, Nathan and Joshua, daughter, Elanor, parents, Richard and Geraldine Podgorski, sisters, Karen (John) Schmidt and Lynne (Scott) Miller, brothers, David (Linda) Podgorski and Jeffrey (Susan) Podgorski, and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family. Doug was a caring and devoted father, husband and friend.
Doug graduated from Warren Woods Tower High School, and earned his degree in Business Administration from Oakland University. He worked as an Account Manager at Iron Mountain, Inc. for many years.
Doug enjoyed superhero movies and concerts and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Red Wings and Pittsburgh Steelers (not so much the Lions.) His favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing and most outdoor activities. He spent many hours in the woods with his brothers, and was happily passing on his love for the outdoors to his children. Much of Doug’s free time was also spent cheering on his kids at their soccer and baseball games, and attending their many other activities. His greatest love was spending time with his family and friends, playing games and sharing laughter.
Funeral services for Doug will be at St Ronald Catholic Church in Clinton Township on January 7, 2021 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be at St. Ronald during the hour preceding the funeral. Doug will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Head for the Cure at www.headforthecure.org.
