Elide was born on June 28, 1925 in Rome, Italy, to Luigi and Teresa Kuhn. While she was baptized at Basilica of Saint Peter in Rome, she was active with both St. Mary Magdalen Church in Hazel Park, Michigan, and St. Mary Catholic Church in Royal Oak, Michigan. Elide was a member of the Royal Oak Elk Wapiti.
