
Eveline Lucille Douglas (nee Oen) passed away in Detroit July 6,2013 after a second battle with cancer and multiple surgeries. She was born February 27, 1938 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of the late Robert and Lucille Oen. She is survived by her children with James Douglas (Luann) of Marine City, Christian Douglas of Clinton Township, Eric Douglas of Clinton Township, Genevieve Donovan (Patrick) of Aiken, SC and sister Susan Oen of Anchorage, AK., and local heartthrob, Richard Peters of Clinton Township. She will also be missed by her dog Charlie. She went to Radcliff- Harvard on academic scholarship, as well as attending University of Minnesota and Wayne State University with a Degree in English. She worked as a reporter for the Macomb Daily, Birmingham Eccentric, and the Detroit News. She became one of the first female copy editors in the U.S. during her time working at the Detroit News. Eveline was one of the founding members of the Detroit chapter of the League of Women Voters. She belonged to Sailing Singles (past commodore), Questers, Detroit Working Writers. Eveline could often be found at Crescent Sailing Club enjoying a glass of wine in the gazebo with her significant other, in her garden or catching some live music, preferably jazz. Visitation Today 6-9 pm in the chapel and a Memorial service Wednesday 11 am at Faith Lutheran Church, 37635 Dequindre, Troy.
