I was shocked to hear of Fred's passing; he was easily the most energetic member of our Roseville High Schools Reunion Committee and always at the ready to help. Dedicated to a love of history and our community, he will be sorely missed in many ways. My deepest condolences to his children and grandchildren.

I just found out today that Fred has passed away.  He was always a good friend and fellow educator at L'Anse Creuse.  Sometimes I would run across him at Metro Beach in the summer when he was working and I was walking the boardwalk.  Always a friendly face and a welcome smile.  Fred we will miss you.  I am privileged that I was able to walk a while with humble greatness.  You will surely be missed by all who knew you.

I am so saddened on hearing of the loss of Mr. DeNault. He was a favorite teacher of mine at LCHSN while I was there (1982-1986). My prayers and thoughts are with his family. God bless.

It has been said that a great teacher's lessons live eternally.  Senor Denault's certainly will...and though I owe my ability to speak and comprehend Spanish to him, it is his lessons of grace, of indefitigable energy in dealing with high school students and of gentleness that will live on. Special moments are now memories that will warm the hearts of Fred's wonderful children Danielle, Renee, Dawn and Frederick.  I personally want to thank you for your kindness with updates on Fred that I was able to share with our monthly RHS class of 59 luncheon group.  We will miss him dearly and have fond memories of the time he shared with us.  He touched so many lives and we thank God for him.

I actually thought this posted on Monday. I unfortunately did not  have the PRIVALEDGE to know Fred to long. We met 2 or 3 yrs. ago while serving on the Roseville High Schools Reunion Committee. The short time I did get to know him He made me feel like we were friends all of our lives ! If I had more friends like him, I would die a happy man ! RIP MY FRIEND ! Unfortunately one of my wife's cousins passed away & his arrangements were the same days as Fred's. My Prayers & Thoughts were with all of his Family today.

He was my Spanish teacher. Even though I was too dumb to learn Spanish he was one of my favorite teachers. Prayers to his family.

Mr. DeNault was my teacher at North for four years.  He was a great teacher and a very nice guy.  I still remember much of what he taught me.  Never saw him lose his temper or get impatient.  Rest In Peace!

To Fred's children and grandchildren,  Fred was outstanding in his loyalty to family, friends and to the RHS class of 1959.  I worked with him again on the 50th class reunion in 2009 and he hadn't changed from the great guy he was in high school.   He kept his good looks as well as his friendly nature until the end.  He was liked by everyone. I thought highly of him.  I am sorry that illness in my family has kept me away from the services today.  I'd like to offer my sincere sympathy to his family. Fred and I were both original staff members at L'Anse Creuse HS North, and taught down the hall from each other from 75 to 83. Later we worked together at Metro Beach in 82/83. In recent years we saw each other twice a month at middle school and LCN retiree brunches. I always knew him to be a kind and respectful person. He will be greatly missed.         Phil Cunningham

I met Fred during my first year in L'Anse Creuse. After that he was my LCEA treasurer, forever. Fred NEVER SAID NO to any of my ideas. Our families became close and we utilized the girls as our babysitters. When everyone grew up we also shared attendance at graduations, parties and weddings. Fred was a True Friend, a colleague, and a dedicated professional. Fred will be missed.

My family were neighbors of the Denaults on Beechurst in Roseville during the 50's and 60's.  I remember Fred built wooden replica military weapons.  Condolences to Donald and the entire Denault family.

Please accept our deepest sympathy with the death of your father.  He was a special man loved by many.  I (June) worked at L'Anse Creuse and remember meeting him when he taught Spanish to the Neil E. Reid Elementary School children.  That, of course, was many years ago.

Mr. DeNault (as he was always called) will be deeply missed by many people who loved him.  We also enjoyed seeing him at Metropolitan Beach (now Lake St. Clair Beach) when we did our daily walk.

Though I haven't seen Fred in decades, he was a caring, conscientious, and dedicated officer of MEA-NEA Local One, L'Anse Creuse during the short time I worked with him as vice president of our union. He was a model of professionalism for every teacher he served so selflessly. God doesn't create them any better than Fred.

It was with great sadness when I heard of Fred's passing.  I first met Fred while working at Metro Beach while attending High school in the mid 80's.  Although we worked in different capacities at the park, he was always around to selflessly lend a helping hand or give advice to others based on his long tenure at the park.  It was to my great surprise to later find out his daughter Renee was dating my brother John, and eventually were married.  Two great additions to our family!  Fred's endearing kindness and compassion to others will be greatly missed.

Very sad to hear of the passing of Mr. DeNault. I was a student of his at L'Anse Creuse HSN and I have many great memories from his class. He was a great teacher. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.

Señor DeNault was the first Spanish teacher I have ever had. He was so patient and I only recall him getting angry once with my class...I believe it was when one of the girls stood up and started playing with my hair out of the blue.

I was thinking about him not too long ago. Everytime I speak Spanish I remember that he taught us "The Pledge of Allegiance". To this day that is the most impressive thing I can say in that language. I've had a lady from Ecuador tell me that I have to teach it to her!!

Mucha Gracias, Señor DeNault. I'm glad I had you as a teacher and got to see photos from your trips with your high schoolers. May you rest in peace.

Mr. Denault (Señor Denault) was one of my favorite teachers, hands down.  He was so kind and patient.  He let me pass tests I had no business of passing.  I will be the first to admit I took advantage of his kindness because I knew he wouldn't fail me no matter how bad I did.  Heck, I remember I asked him for a help during a test...and he DID!  He taught me important life lessons that I know he did not intentionally mean to.  He taught me more about Grace than anyone or anything besides the bible itself.  He was the epitomy of what is good in this world.  What a great man. Rest in Peace Señor Denault.

During his many years with the Selfridge Military Air Museum Fred acquired and restored an extensive collection of military uniforms representing all branches of the Service.  Fred was a valued member of our Museum's staff and will be missed.  Don and Carol Hussey

Deepest condolences to the DeNault family. Fred and I were friends since HS. When we graduated (Fred class of '59 and me "60) we both went on the major in Spanish, Fred at Wayne State and me at Eastern MI U. The summer of 1962 we traveled in my 1953 Ford from Roseville to Guadalajara, Mexico, where we studied Spanish and lived with a fine young family and two other gringos. It was a grand adventure and an incomparable learning experience. Fred will live on in my memories!

Fred was a great person and the best neighbor. Always there to answer any questions I had about anything. My sincere sympathy to Fred's family and friends.

Fred was one of my first co-workers in L'Anse Creuse and I admired him greatly.  He was so helpful to me as a first year teacher and made me feel wanted and welcome!  I will forever remember his kindnesses to me and his ability to make me smile even on my most difficult days!  He was an amazing Spanish teacher, the students all loved him and so did we!

I had Mr Denault as a Spanish teacher in high school. He made learning Spanish both easy and fun. I have fond memories of his class. I was even blessed to have known him briefly in my adult life as well. The world has lost a great teacher and man. Renee and John I am sorry for your loss...

Fred was a class act to work with for my last 6 years at "the Beach". He will truly be missed by all of us! Sending all my sympathies to his family.

He was a teacher at my high school (LCN) but he was also my neighbor in Sterling Hts and attended our church, St. Michael. He worked with me as a volunteer in our homeowner's association in the 80's and 90's- such a kind man, he will be missed by many! I am very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing.  Fred and I were "church friends", always sitting in the same place at the 9:45 A. M. mass.
We talked of many things and really got to know each other during that time.  Please accept my sincerest sympathy.

I have fond memories of Mr. DeNault from LCHS-N--his Spanish class and the Spanish Dance class he had for all of us.  He was a great teacher.  Many condolences to his family and friends.

We are very saddened by this news.  Fred was a great teacher and advocate for his students and colleagues.  I first met Fred when I was a young college student and took a summer job at Metro Beach. He trained me and made sure I knew what I needed to know as a young employee. Little did I know I would eventually end up working with Fred in L'Anse Creuse.  I am proud to have known Fred.  His legacy will be forever remembered in L'Anse Creuse.

I enjoyed working with Fred at L'Anse Creuse MSC and HSN. He took his duties as department chairman seriously and since I was a new French teacher, he was very helpful to me. I also remember him at Education Association president. He could always be counted upon to do his part and more than his share. I will miss his friendly presence.

Fred will be greatly missed at the Selfridge Military Air Museum.  He was a valued part of the Uniform Shop Team and an outstanding volunteer of the museum. My condolences and deepest sympathy to your family.

Fred has worked every summer at Metro Beach for the last 47 years. Everyone looked forward to his arrival as the start of the official summer. He has been a dear friend to all of us in our "Beach Family" He will be dearly missed but always remembered fondly

The 21st Michigan Volunteer Infantry Reenactors have lost their "perpetual private".  He will be missed by all. Our condolences to the family.
