My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.
Herman sent me a picture one day and it was when I was 12 years old holding up a big old salmon and he used to carry that in his wallet. He was so like a dad to me, my dad and Herman were such good buddies.
Last year my uncle Tom Davidson showed me where tortilla Junction was in Michigan it was something they named up north when they hunted up there somebody nailed a tortilla on a tree and from then on it was named Tortilla Junction. I’ll be putting some of dad‘s ashes at that tortilla junction and down at the river where they used to  fish. 
I’ll bet they’re already fishing and hunting Up in Heaven already.

We think back to the many pleasant hours and days spent in the north woods with Herman & Jean, Paul & Jean, Randy and all the Tortilla Junction folks. Herman was a good-natured, intelligent and kind person. We hope he had an easy passing.

Herman will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  His love for his family was immense.   He is now at peace .  Prayers for you and your family for strength and peace at this most difficult time.  He will always be remembered fondly.  Julie RN, TMT

Uncle Herman was a true outdoorsman. He and Grandpa hunted and fished often growing up. Grandma was a great cook. He developed a love of the outdoors. Later he and his family went on many camping trips and visited beautiful parts of the country. He and Randy fished and hunted often. Kathy fished also, but they weren't allowed to keep them, ha ha, he told me. I was lucky enough to be invited on some of the hunting and fishing trips. We had some great adventures. I developed my love of the outdoors from him, and also a great respect for the man. He always made you feel loved and part of his family,  and to be clear Aunt Jeanne did also. You could always learn something from being around him. He once told me: an hour of fishing will add an hour to your life. I believe it worked for him, but also he had a strong will and never gave up. He was an inspiration to us all.
Yours was a life well lived. Godspeed Uncle Herman on your journey to see your loved ones who preceded you. We will miss you, but hope to see you again someday .
