Maryellen,  just heard Jim… 2 months later but my sister Dorothy (Socia) told me. I am so sorry for your loss. He was such a great guy! I always liked and respected him. You guys babysat Mark, my son when he was young and then Jim kept an eye on him in high school as a liaison officer at Lakeshore. He was the most carrying gentleman I have ever known. A true asset to the SCS Police Department! I am so glad you guys had such a wonderful life filled with children and grandchildren! Hope you are doing good. You both were the most awesome couple together.

My prayers are with your family during this time.  I loved working with Mr. Jim during the Logos program at church.  We were in charge of the kitchen.  Preparing, cooking and cleaning for the kids. 
He always made me laugh with the silliest jokes and I just enjoyed being around him. 

You are sweet soul Mr. Jim.  I will miss you but I am blessed to have known you and spend time with you.

I miss Jim so very much and heart breaks.  Mary Ellen, both you and Jim became our best friends. The two of you enriched our lives in so many ways (I know 2000 characters won't be enough).
  I know that we spent hundreds of times together. We first meant when Mary Ellen was appointed our pastor. Thank you God! The first of many blessings to come in the next 23 years. Jim started a men's prayer group almost immediately. Jim wrote down each prayer concern in a notebook he kept with him. Each and every prayer was  answered. Jim taught us the power of prayer,
  Jim and I liked the same authors and war movies. I recall going to an AMC theater and watching  the film, 1917. Jim liked his popcorn and I preferred candy. I also remember going up north to the Chapman cabin usually listening to an Anne Murray cd just the two of us with Maggie in tow. Jim would use the  weedwhacker and I did the mowing. But my favorite moment was going to the bakery were we each would get a bear claw. I never had before one before. 
  Jim and I played two-handed pinochle. He had a great memory when playing games, in fact the last time Jim and I played Joker, we were partners against our wives.  It was the Sunday before his passing.  He was feeling pretty good and wouldn't you know it we won! Jim was a master at Rummy Cube. His signature move was turn his tile tray upside-down with a victory grin exclamation.
  Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He blessed so many people throughout his life, and I was fortunate be one of them.
  See you heaven buddy, until then I'm going to miss you everyday.

What a great man and role model to so many for so many years. He loved his family and was a loving leader to everyone one in his family. He was my friend for many years and anytime we got together we shared some good times with many laughs. Jim, this world will surely miss you. RIP.

Very sorry to hear that Jim had passed.
Jim was a very good man to work with on the job, and off.
He taught me how to coach baseball for several years, when I was assistant manager.  Than going on my own with the t- ball team Rangers.  Jim was great at teaching the kids about baseball and anything else he would take on to teach the kids.
He was very liked at Lakeshore school as there liaison officer,
well most of the kids, anyways.

l am so sad
to learn of Jim's death. I grieve for Mary Ellen and the whole family. What a wonderful guy he was! It was a privilege to know him. Always so cheerful and supportive! I hope he gets to hang out in Heaven with Foster and the other men who enjoyed years of friendship with him.  Sending love and hugs to Mary Ellen. Keeping you all in prayer.

So glad we have the wonderful memories of our trip to Alaska that Jim organized over 20 years ago.  He always made me laugh.  


Theresa and all of the Chapman family I was blessed to be able to met Jim he always lit up any room he was in. Theresa from the first time I met your father we always laughed and had great conversations and he always talked about his family.  Mycondolence go out to the entire family.
