James "Stew" Westgate

James “Stew” Westgate passed away on August 6, 2019 at the age of 89. He was the beloved husband of Beverly Westgate for 54 years. The loving father of Denise (Rick) Asaro and Mark (Holly) Westgate. The cherished grandfather of Erica (Brett), Jessica (Agustin), Kendall, Colin, and Paige. He was the dear brother of Jack Westgate and Betty Furbay.

James retired as a Battalion Chief with the Detroit Fire Department after 33 years of dedicated service. He also served in the Army during the Korean War. After retirement James spent time golfing, taking many road trips with his wife Beverly, and spending time with his family and grand dogs.

Visitation for James will take place on Friday, August 9, 2019 from 4 to 8pm at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road in Clinton Township. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday evening at 7pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated to the Disabled American Veterans.
