Although, I haven't seen you in years, you were never forgotten and always loved. When I was young, you and Uncle Tom were always my safe place to be. Love you both.

Aunt Jean was an amazing woman who had a contagious love for life. I am grateful for the time I spent with her and Uncle Tom. Grateful for her love for Jesus!

Rather than share a memory of my mom, I have decided to share part of tonight's prayer.

Heavenly Father, 
I am so grateful for my mom and the time that you gave us together. She was a tremendous blessing in my life, as well as a huge influence! My mom taught me and my family so much about life, love, and family. It is how she lived that will be her legacy. 

My mom let us know that life can be tough; however, she would say that it never helped to wallow in our problems. She taught us to be kind to others and to put the best construction on everything. I am so thankful, Lord, that you blessed my mom with a kind heart, because through her example we learned what kindness looks like. 

My mom was an amazing mother who was steadfast in her unconditional love for her children. I know that when I was a teenager I did not deserve her unconditional love. I was not always kind to her during those years. However, I spent my entire adult life trying to make up for it. I know that she forgave me, and that our relationship developed into a beautiful friendship. I have had two truly best friends in my life, my husband and my mom. Thank you for both, Lord.

In my mind, my mom was the best wife and mother to ever exist. Because of her role model, I learned how to be a wife with a servant heart and how to love my children unconditionally. Lord, I am nowhere close to my mom's level in either of these roles, but I thank you for her example so that I can keep striving to better myself. 

Dear God, You know that my mom adored my dad. This was evident in the way that she looked at him, spoke to him, the way that she spoke of him, and the way that she lived her life with him. Lord, I know that there has been a huge void in my mom's life ever since my dad passed away. However, I am now at peace with the knowledge that they have been reunited and that their love story continues now in Heaven. 

Father, you blessed me with two amazing parents for which I will forever be grateful. Today, I am remembering my mom and her influence on my life with a very thankful heart! In recent weeks, while I was caring for my mom, she asked the same question on a few different occasions. This question will always mean the world to me, because it meant that I was doing something right. She asked me, What would I do without you? Although her question made me feel good each time, I know that the situation was really was vice versa. Lord, I am trying to figure out what I will do without her. How will I live without her? The void is great. 

I am putting my trust in you, and because of your great goodness, I am looking forward to a glorious reunion with her.

My Aunt Jean.... The one thing I remember most about her is how much she loved my Uncle Tom! The two of them really loved each other! They are together again, in Jesus name, Amen.

Aunt Jean is the last of the trio of sisters.  When I came home to visit my mother would always fill me in an what was going on with the Donnellys and Zulaufs.  I always knew I was part of a very big family.  My cousins and second cousins I knew what was happening in their lives.  Aunt Jean and Uncle Tom were always there and present. I loved Aunt Jean's smile.  It was if she was saying I am here for you.

... Not sure there are words to do my Aunt Jean ( nor my Uncle Tom) justice. They've been there for me (and my brothers) since birth.  She and my mom were not only sisters-in-law but friends for life!  We've lost not only a relative but a trusted friend !  From telling me how to get rid of my cold sore to how to handle family things!  She was there on the straight & narrow!. There is such love down in my heart for these people- if you didn't know my Aunt & Uncle you missed out !!   With hugs and many warm/fun memories, Jeff & Kathy (Donnelly) Downs
