Joan Marie Reed passed away on September 15, 2018 in the comfort of her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Joan was born in Detroit, one of five children of the late Frank and Martha (Elandt) Fuller.
Joan was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church.
Retiring from the DuPont Mt. Clemens site in 1993 as Administrative Assistant to the Plant Manager. Joan was also an avid cook who enjoyed preparing meals for family, friends, neighbors and various church functions. Joan always had a pot of soup, a roast or some other delicacy prepared “to-go” for those who came to visit.
Family was very important to Joan, she was a fierce protector of her children and grandchildren, reaching out in several ways to help them prepare for life and prosper. She will be missed by all whose life she touched.
Joan never wanted to be a burden and had boundless energy when it came to others. She was very grateful to her son Christopher, grandson Brandon and daughter in law Jill, whom provided for her care and support during her illness and in her final days.
Joan is survived by sons Christopher (Jill), David (Carlene) and daughter Linda (Mark) together with 5 grandchildren whom she cherished; Michelle, Jeff, Ashley, Nick, and Brandon and 4 great grandchildren. Joan is predeceased by her parents and two brothers (Alfred and Thomas) and is survived by Brother Edward and Sister Barbara.
In keeping with Joan’s wishes, a private memorial service will occur at a later date at the convenience of her family.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Henry Ford Hospice or to the Michigan Humane Society in her name.
