John graduated from Northeastern High School in Detroit, he loved to play baseball and was a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers. He loved to travel, build model ships, crossword puzzles and sudoku. John started working for Chrysler Hamtramck Assembly Plant as a welder. He retired in 1980 after 30 years of service.
John is survived by his wife, Margret Fasel Wahnschaff Amato of 35 years; loving Step-Father to Olaf and the late Ralf (1960-2004) Wahnschaff; proud Grandfather to Andrew and Ashley; and a dog parent to Teemo. He was preceded in death by his 10 siblings.
The family will greet guests from 2:00pm until 8:00pm with a 7:00pm Rosary service on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Rd., Clinton Twp., Michigan. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 10 at the above location. Visitation from 10:30am until time of service. Interment following at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Twp.
