A gifted photographer, John’s lens captured the beauty of countless moments. As the owner of Salerno Photography, he started etching his mark on the community with photographing cherished family gatherings to joyous weddings and spirited school events. His tenure with Lifetouch and Prestige further enriched his journey, where his genuine connection with students and faculty alike blended professionalism with an innate passion for storytelling through images, leaving an indelible impression.
John’s penchant for orderliness extended beyond his professional endeavors, as he meticulously maintained a tidy existence where everything found its place. As a skilled player on the piano, he breathed life into melodies. Also a master of repairs, John could fix just about anything. He loved movies and video games and quality time with his grandchildren, underscoring his youthful spirit and zest for adventure. John also had a heart for animals, particularly cats. He made sure that the outdoor neighborhood cats had food and shelter to stay fed and safe throughout the year, and he adored his own personal cat companions, Trixie and Ashley.
An avid traveler, camper, and gardener, John found solace in nature’s embrace, all while indulging his palate as an enthusiastic foodie. His green thumb and dedication to his lawn care mirrored his nurturing nature, evident in his willingness to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends alike to beautify their lawns as well.
John leaves behind a legacy of loving family. He was the beloved husband of Doreen Salerno; Loving father of John Salerno (Jennifer), David Salerno (Jennifer), and Tracci McEvoy (Joseph), and step-father of Brandon Everett (Nicole) and Justin Everett; Adoring grandfather of 17 and great-grandfather of 1; Dear son of Rosalie Salerno; Cherished brother of Diane Hawkins (John) and uncle of Jeff Hawkins. John was preceded in death by his father, John Salerno Sr. and his son, Matthew Salerno.
There will be a memorial service Saturday, May 4th at 10:00 AM, with service beginning at 11:00 AM at Living Grace Church 2306 Auburn Road Shelby Township, Michigan 48317.
