Karla J. Sumner passed away on December 30, 2018 at the age of 84. She was the loving wife of the late R. Marlin Sumner for 62 years. Beloved mother of Debra Weishaar, Karen (Joseph) Voytush, and Scott (Margaret) Sumner. Dear grandma of Dana (Jared Whitehill) Usndek, Adam (Jill) Usndek, Scott Voytush, Matthew Voytush, Ellen Sumner, and Kay Sumner. Cherished grammy of Elliot Whitehill.
Karla, the only child of Harry and Mildred Miller, was born and raised in Miamisburg, Ohio. She graduated from Miamisburg High School and worked for Frigidaire before marrying R. Marlin Sumner. They settled in Michigan where they raised their three children. Together they joined Lake Shore Presbyterian Church where Karla played in the hand bell choir and sang in the choir for over 45 years. She enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing piano. Karla and Marlin loved their trips to all 50 states and 52 countries. Her Parkinson's Disease slowed her down but didn't stop her from loving her family, jigsaw puzzles, Game Boy and board games, craft shows and shopping.
Visitation will take place on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 3-8 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, in Clinton Township. A funeral service will follow Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11am at Resurrection Funeral Home. Friends may visit the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 10:30am. Interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made in Karla's honor to the Michael J.
