Dearest Rogers Family,

I cannot express how sorry I am to hear of Katie's passing. Please know that we are continuing to pray for peace for your family in your time of such profound loss. Katie will forever be "Boo" in my mind from our winter guard days as her resemblance to the character from "Monster Inc." was just second to none. I remember her being an adorable trick-or-treater for the "Thriller" show with her little pumpkin bucket, and there are just so many wonderful memories that I treasure with your family from our guard and band years together. Once Katie's cancer battle began, I was absolutely in awe of her strength, courage, and positive demeanor through it all. Her Facebook posts were so inspiring, and I know that she touched many, many lives by just being the amazing young woman that she was. How proud we all are to have known such a wonderful soul. Please take comfort in knowing that this separation is but temporary, and my Dad will definitely keep a loving eye on "Boo" for now. Love and miss you all.

Love,
Dawn Raney (Malaga)

From the moment I met Katie, I knew she was someone special. Katie was my resident this year in Landon hall at MSU. Whenever I saw Katie, it was never a simple hello and walk away; she always stopped to ask how I was doing and engage in conversation with me. She was funny, brilliant, loving, and absolutely beautiful inside and out. As a Resident Assistant, I have to put up bulletin boards. The bulletin boards were located right by Katie’s room, and I could always hear her watching the Office when I was working on them. She loved that show. Whenever I made posters for events, I always made sure to put them up by Katie’s door so that she would see them. I first met Katie at our floor dinner. She came and met all of our neighbors. We engaged in great conversations about campus life, the Bachelor, and other girl topics. We told jokes and laughed and enjoyed each other’s presence. At one point of the dinner, Katie shared her story to us. We all tuned in to listen to Katie as she was brave enough to tell us about her past few years. I thanked her for sharing her story, and let her know that we were there to support her through anything. After our floor dinner, I went back to my room and thought about Katie. She was so strong, she was so ambitious, and she was so powerful. From the short time I knew Katie, she made an impact on me that I will never forget. She taught me the importance of confidence and determination. She taught me to love myself, and appreciate the gifts I have. But most importantly, she taught me to never give up. Rest peacefully Katie, and may the memories of you live on.

Love your RA and friend,
Olivia Reilly

Katie was a student in my class at Michigan State University this semester. She came to talk to me at my office and we had a lovely conversation. She was bright, sparkly, and optimistic. I will always remember her kindness, courage, and humor. I send my condolences to all her family and friends.

I am truly saddened to hear about this news. In 5th grade, I was extremely shy and the school social worker recommended that I start branching out to make friends. Katie was that friend for me. Katie and her family lovingly took me in as we made play dates to get me out of my shell. I will never forget her impact on my childhood, and really my life, that kindness goes a long way. I hope that Katie is able to rest peacefully now. My heart and prayers are with the family.

I met Katie a few years ago when she was dating a friend of mines son. She came over a few times and enjoyed our pool and hot tub as we got to know each other. When she found out she had cancer, I was humbled by her strength and Courage to fight this disease. As she struggled these last few years I witnessed a beautiful young woman blossoming through this journey. May she now be at peace in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ and we all be reminded of her courage, her strength, and her joy! All things we need to carry-on! Prayers and love to the family…

I remember when Adam & I first went to visit at your house when Adam & Emily were in 1st grade. I never forgot how strikingly beautiful Katie was. Her dark eyes and hair and her fair skin made her look like a real life Snow White. I think she would have been about 2 yers old then. From all I read Katie grew up not only to be beautiful on the outside but also on the inside. I wish your family strength & love to help you cope at this difficult time.

Katie and I spent a week painting some equipment for my boss, in just one week my soul had been touched by the heart of a truly kind and light hearted person. I know that she had a heart of gold, and her personality will stick with me forever. Rest in Peace angel.

To the entire Rogers Family, and Friends,

For those that were fortunate enough to have know Katie she was the epitome of love, wisdom, and courage.
Her passing leaves a massive hole in our hearts. My family met Katie through the friendship of our daughter MaryRose. They met in seventh grade. From the beginning Katie was a wonderful young lady. She was kind, and had a great sense of humor. Her presence was that of an old soul that was a longtime friend.
Although she will be greatly missed, she will never be forgotten. She will live forever in our memories.

Katie girl, may you run with the wind blowing through your hair, may you laugh hard, please watch over us until we meet again.

Keeping you and your family in our prayers.
Rest Easy

Much Love,

Jerry, Karen, Andrew, and MaryRose Asaro
