Laurel Lee Prentiss, 75, of Clinton Township passed away on October 18, 2019 surrounded by her family. Laurel, daughter of Harold and Emily (Bogaert) Bushfield, was born on April 18, 1944 and spent her childhood in Royal Oak. Laurie and her devoted husband, Harold, shared 54 years of marriage, raising their family in Sterling Heights, where they lived for over 40 years. Laurie is survived by her children Robin (Michael) Mills, Kristin (Todd) LaMothe, and Paul (Pam) Prentiss. Laurie is a cherished Granna to Katelyn (Scott) Davis, Michael Mills, Amanda (Tyler) Hill, Jake LaMothe, Mollie Mills, Emma LaMothe, Paulie Prentiss, and Mackenzie Mills. Her great grandchild Benjamin Davis affectionately called her Nana. Laurie is also survived by her brother Duane (Fran) Bushfield, and was a favorite aunt to many nieces and nephews. Her kindness, compassion and fun-loving spirit will be missed by her many dear friends.
Laurie loved life and lived each day to its fullest. Upon retirement, Laurie and Harold spent their winters in Mission, Texas, where they enjoyed the warm weather and spending time outdoors with their Winter Texan friends. When in Michigan, the grandchildren kept her busy and time with them was precious. When not creating memories with her grandchildren, Laurie enjoyed reading, gardening, and sewing. She was a sorority member of Beta Sigma Phi for 34 years. Laurie and Harold were avid campers, visited all 50 states and have traveled to numerous other countries.
A Memorial visitation for Laurel will take place on Thursday, October 24th from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road in Clinton Township. On Friday, October 25th a church service to celebrate Laurie’s life will be held at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 47500 Schoenherr Road in Shelby Township (just north of 21 Mile), at 10:00 a.m.
