Lonnie Robert Chester

Lonnie Robert Chester, age 83, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Lonnie lived a life marked by hard work, quiet strength, and deep love for his family.

He was the proud and loving father of Lonnie Robert Chester Jr. (Christina), and Tanya Starr (Darrell). Lonnie also cherished his role as grandfather to Frank, Billy, Falicia, Isabelle, Kaitlyn, and Thea, and was blessed to be the great-grandfather of eight. His love extended to his many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Lonnie was the dear brother of the late Lynn Swieczkowski Shaffner, LeAnn Swieczkowski, and Robi Roberts. He was a lifelong and loyal friend to Bill Frisch, with whom he shared many years of memories and camaraderie.

Born to Frieda Weingarten-Swieczkowski and Ralph Durham, who preceded him in death, Lonnie carried the values they instilled in him throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany during his military service.

Following his service, Lonnie began a long and successful career at General Motors, retiring in 2008 as a respected metal model engineer. His work ethic and commitment left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside him.

Lonnie will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his unwavering loyalty to friends, and the quiet, steady presence he brought into every room. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
