Marie Rosseel, age 96, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on February 13, 2014. Marie was active in her faith, as well as in her life. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed many hobbies, including, but not limited to, bowling, golfing, Belgian lacemaking, crocheting, and square dancing. A true Detroiter at heart, Marie was a super Tigers and Red Wings fan. She took pride in her work as a bank teller, Girl Scouts leader, and member of the 3rd Order of the Capuchins. Before any of that, though, Marie proudly worked as a nurse’s aid during World War II.
Sadly, Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rene Rosseel, and her brother, Father Leo E. Metcko. She is survived by her four children, Edward J. Rosseel, Mary (Mark) Rosseel-Jones, Thomas (Carol) Rosseel, and Denise (Douglas) King. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Carolyn (Andrew) Hardy, Tara King, Kate Jones, and David Rosseel. Marie also leaves behind her seven great-grandchildren, Samuel, Benjamin, and Madelyn Hardy; Luke and Joseph King; and Christopher and Bethany Watson.
Marie’s family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of the Church of Christ Care Center and Great Lakes Caring Hospice for their loving care of their mother.
Visitation will take place Sunday, February 23 at 3:00 pm at Kaul Funeral Home; 35201 Garfield Road, Clinton Township, MI 48035. A Rosary will take place on the same evening at 7:00 pm. Marie Rosseel will be Instate at 9:00 am on Monday, February 24 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mt. Clemens, MI. The Funeral Mass will begin at 9:30 am.
Memorial Contributions made to The Capuchin Soup Kitchen www.cskdetroit.org or Breast Cancer Research Foundation www.bcrfcure.org would be appreciated by the family.
