Bess was raised with her siblings on the Eastside of Detroit. She attended MSU and received a teaching degree with a focus on blind education. She taught in Detroit after college and then later started a new career for the federal government. Bess was a strong presence, a seeker of justice and an advocate for others. She loved conversation over good coffee, shopping and artfully selecting the perfect gifts for her loved ones. She enjoyed traveling to California and cherished her times with family there. Bess loved her dog Gizzy as a child and later it was Buford, Max, Misty and Champ to whom she poured out her affection. She was a brilliant light in this world and will be truly missed.
Bess leaves behind her siblings, Pam (Jerry), Diane (Ed), the late Marjorie (Doug), Janine (Willie), John (Jan), her late twin sister Mary; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Erin and Missy always held her as a special Aunt and more recently Peyton and Lacey got to enjoy her fun loving nature as well.
