Dad,
My eyes fill up with tears when I think about you and my emotions take over.  I love you so much!  You have been on my mind 24x7 since Mom called me and told me you were rushed to the hospital.  I miss our daily talks on my way home from work or on my lunch break.  Life is not going to be the same without you... I miss you so much and I hope you're visiting with your family and friends up in heaven.  I know you're watching over us from heaven.  Drew bought you a present from the Santa Shop today at school.   I couldn't tell him no, it would just break his heart.  You will see what he got for you soon!  Madison and Drew send hugs and kisses your way.

So sorry to find out we lost Mike. Our family truly thought of him as extremely friendly and a great neighbor. We knew him as a true Tiger's fan as on a warm summer day we could hear the game on the radio from their yard, in our yard. That saved us from using our own radio to also hear the game. He will be greatly missed.

Papa,

     You were the biggest role model and best grandfather I could possibly ask for. From serving in Vietnam straight out of high school and then later working seven days a week at Chrysler, Papa still managed to spend time with his children and loved ones putting a big smile on their face. The best thing to do growing up was to spend time with Papa and Grandma and my cousins. It could be playing cards, watching a movie, going swimming, or even going shopping! As long as we were all there, it felt whole. My Papa was a hero and one of the most important people in my life. He is loved by many and will never be forgotten.

Papa has had such a big impact in every person's life that he has entered. He was the nicest most caring grandpa he could be and an even better husband to his beloved wife. Papa was also a fantastic rolemodel and father to his three children who all grew up to have successful lives thanks to his hard work and dedication shown through his history serving our country and working at Chrysler.There was never a dull moment with papa. He could always make a room light up with smiles with his witty humor. His grandchildren could not have asked for a better papa. He was a true family man. I will always cherish the memories we had together. One of my favorite things to do was just sit down at the table and play cards and listen to papa how he would always say how the money in my jar would end up in his, funny thing is that it usually did. We would stay up so late just playing and talking,  then we would all have some ice cream and call it a night. I know that everyone must go but I just didn't want it to be his time yet. I will always remember his smile and how much joy he brought this family. I love you so much papa and I know you are being taken care of up there. You'll always be remembered in my prayers. I love you papa.

Papa,

I don't even know how to begin to express everything you meant to our family. You were a loving husband to my Grandma, a great father for my dad, aunt, and uncle, and the absolute best grandfather to myself, my siblings, and my cousins. Throughout your entire life, you were the perfect role model. Between serving our country, working hard at Chrysler, and setting an outstanding example of what a marriage should look like, it's amazing you had any time to do the other things you enjoyed, like swimming, gambling (somehow seemingly always winning), or going up north. Did you know that whenever somebody asks me where my favorite place to go is, my answer is always your cottage in Oscoda? I have been asked if I could travel anywhere in the world, where it would be, and I answered your cottage in Oscoda. I remember everything about that place, from stopping at the Spartan store on the way up, to collecting leaves and pine needles for the bonfire, to taking the old Tigersharks out on the water, and even watching Ryan Raburn hit walk-off home runs while stuffing our faces with your favorite ice cream, butter pecan. I'm going to buy it back one day. 

I remember spending weekends at your house, and I remember it was extra special when Devon did too. I remember day trips to Lake St. Clair Metro Park. I remember playing Tripoley, Rummy, and endless games of Euchre. I remember playing your handheld poker games, losing all your money, and handing them to you so you could win it back. I remember Mom and Dad buying me one of my own, but it was never quite like playing yours. I remember Aunt Kellie coming home from West Marine on her break, I remember how you always had a jar of mixed nuts and a bag of pretzels in your truck, and I remember playing the slot machine so much that I can still hear the song it sings when you hit the jackpot. I remember watching the Tigers game on TV, then going outside and hearing the next play on the radio, because both were always on. I remember late nights of Wii bowling, movies with huge bowls of air-popped popcorn, and the many times we wore the same argyle sweater to family gatherings. I remember playing Super Mario World 3 on holidays and weekend stays, and I remember the Christmas you and grandma gave me my first Gameboy Color and Pokemon Yellow, both of which I still have to this day. I remember getting you the same gift every year: butter pecan ice cream, crushed peanuts, Sander’s Hot Fudge, Maraschino cherries, and Magic Shell. I remember the annual Christmas and birthday parties, I remember my high school graduation, I remember my band concerts, and I remember the smile on your face as you and grandma danced on the night of your 50th anniversary. I remember thinking to myself that I wanted my marriage to be as genuine and lasting as yours. I will always remember the big things, the small things, and everything in between.

Thank you for everything you’ve done, every example you’ve set, and being such a huge part of my life. I hope you’re at peace now with the loved ones who left before you. I love you, Papa. Rest easy, and don’t win all of Heaven’s money before I see you again!

Anyone who ever met my Uncle Mike thought he was a great guy, and he was one of my favorite Uncles (sorry other uncles!). Along with Marge they have a family full of good people, and his legacy will live on. Love ya man!
