Paul Alexander Handley passed away on January 25, 2026 at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Agnes Handley. Paul was a dedicated father of Erin and proud grandfather of Dean. He is survived as well by his siblings: Janet (Rich) McFadden, Richard (Michelle) Handley, and Louise (Frank) Veltri; as well as 9 nieces and nephews, 11 great nieces and nephews, and two great-great nieces and nephews.
During his early years, Paul attended Saint Angela Primary School, followed by Annunciation High School, and upon its closure, graduated from Lakeview High School with the class of 1968. In the turmoil of the late 1960s, Paul enlisted in the Army National Guard and was proud of his service to our country.
Over his lifetime, Paul held numerous jobs, including managing a paint and wallpaper store in Mt. Clemens, working at a tile and flooring company, moonlighting as a professional wallpaper hanger and painter for businesses, finally finishing his career in the automotive parts and repairs industry, working sales at Montgomery Wards and finally the front desk at Mack-Alger Tires in Saint Clair Shores, Michigan.
Paul was an avid fan of Beatles music and a collector of many things including baseball cards, coins, and matchbox cars. In his retirement years, Paul enjoyed attending high school football games, U of M football games at the big house, baseball games at Jimmy John’s Field, and supporting all of Detroit’s pro teams. On his free days, Paul could be found several days a week at AMC Star Gratiot, catching a movie and enjoying what he called “Popcorn Soufflè” as a meal! When the weather permitted, he would don a ball cap and one of his many T-shirts with fun sayings, and go for walks around the neighborhood, always with a bag of dog cookies in his pocket to feed his friends along the way.
Ever ready to lend a helping hand or share a wisecrack, Paul will be dearly missed by his family and all the friends who knew him.
For anyone wishing to honor Paul’s memory, we kindly suggest sending a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association to help further research in treating this disease.
