Rachel was born November 23, 1934, in Washington, Pennsylvania, and passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 14, 2025, in Armada, Michigan, with her loving son Daniel at her side, at the age of 90 years old.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, Bruno Morabito and Antonetta Dattilo, who emigrated from Reggio, Calabria, bringing with them a rich cultural heritage that has been passed down through the generations.
She was united in marriage to her loving husband, Thomas Carrata, from Bari, Italy, having met him at a wedding. From their first meeting, Tom knew she was the one for him and set his sights on quickly making her his wife. They were married on July 7, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, and shared a loving bond for 55 years until his passing in 2011. Their beautiful union blessed them with two loving sons: Marco, whom she cared for throughout much of her life until his passing, after an accident had left him paralyzed at a young age, and her faithful son Daniel, who lovingly cared for his mother and remained by her side until the very end.
Rachel is the last of a generation of siblings who left a legacy of loving the Lord and preserving the bond of family through every season of life. She was predeceased in death by her brothers and sisters and their spouses: Silvio (Loretta) Morabito, Elvera Tabbi, Louie (Florence) Morabito, Paulo (Colleen) Morabito, and Danny Morabito. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Richard Tabbi.
Rachel leaves behind many adoring nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and great-great-great nieces and nephews, as well as numerous special friends, extended family, and church family members whom she held dear to her heart.
Faith in Jesus was the firm foundation upon which Rachel built her life. She was a powerful woman of God, a prayer warrior for Christ, and an extraordinary model of Christian service. She was bold in sharing her love for Jesus and always looked to meet people at the heart level in a warm and loving way. She loved the Lord with all her heart, all her soul, and all her mind.
Rachel enjoyed elegantly dressing for each occasion and always took pride in her style, with her hair and nails always looking beautiful. She took the same pride in her home and yard, and enjoyed cooking (especially her Sunday sauce), baking, and entertaining. She enjoyed homemaking, crafting, sewing, and always kept busy. She was actively involved in her church throughout her life, volunteering in various areas of service. We remember Rachel as funny, witty, and always having a positive outlook. What stands out the most is the way she demonstrated both a conquering and a resilient spirit, even in the face of many of the trials she faced throughout her life. She always kept the faith and counted her blessings daily.
Rachel always praised and glorified God all the days of her life, and she wanted to serve Him until the very end. She longed for the day that she would meet Jesus face to face, and hear Him say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant, walk into the gates of heaven.” We know that Rachel, although absent from her body, is present with her Lord and rejoicing in heaven with the promise of eternal life.
