I was shocked and saddened by the news. I taught both his children and I found Robert an active and concerned parent. He was also fun to talk with. He helped take down my Far Out store sign when I retired from teaching and closed the store before moving out of town. My prayers go out to the family.

Refrain thy voice from weeping and thine eyes from tears:for thy work shall be rewarded .... there is hope in thine end Jer 31:16-17
We only knew Rob for a few years. He lived behind me and my young son in Harper Woods. I was alone as was the gal who lived across from me. She had two children, one being a son also. Two young adolescent boys without fathers .... the boys would play hockey on the side street between our three houses for hours. One day Rob came out and introduced himself. From that moment on he would spend time whenever he could just playing hockey with the boys and talking. Many times he would come home from work and the boys would start begging .. he would often change clothes and just come out for an hour. Rob gave of his time unselfishly at moments when both of us moms knew he didn’t feel like it. I’m sure Pam wasn’t always crazy about it ! I think of the scripture about time and season... it was for a time. He impacted the boys in important ways. Rob would stop playing if he knew the moms needed help with something and promptly say, “your mom needs help go now and help her”. He always offered his help as well. When they were pregnant with their first child he talked and talked about it to the boys all the time. About how lucky he was and how excited he was. About how he would teach his child everything and how crazy their dads were for not being in their lives because they were two unbelievabley great boys. Rob was an amazing role-model to our boys at a time in their lives when they needed it most. The day his son was born he arrived home and wept with joy openly in front of them... I don’t know where Robs life took him in the past years but as a Christian I know this. God KNOWS his children and Rob was definitely one of them. So I say a final THANK YOU to him for helping two young boys for a time. Two boys without dads who both went to college, became professionals and have both succeeded beyond our wildest dreams. Rob was a part of that ...

I remember when my youngest daughter now 25 was just a month or so old and we were at a family gathering and he was so taken with her he kept returning to talk to her and marvel at a new baby. Very sweet. I’m so sorry he was in so much pain.

My heart hurts for the O'Connor family, praying for Gods comfort during this hard time. I know Robert tried to find his way with the loving support of his Mother, unfortunately this world can be overpowering. Robert is now at peace with our loving Father God. Continued prayers for the O'Connor family.

I got to know Robert while I was his son's, Brendan, teacher. I knew this to be a loving and supportive family. Robert volunteered to help take the sign of my store, Far Out, down upon retiring and closing the store. It was kind and extremely generous of him to have helped me. I am shocked and deeply saddened by his death.

The news of his death was a shocker!!! Pam and Rob lived down the street from us and our girls played together when they were little!!! I remember him going for his runs and he would occasionally stop and chat!!! When they were pool members at Somerset pool in Fraser I remember the family riding their bikes up there. I remember the block parties and Rob always offering his help with heating and cooling issues!!!! So sad to hear about his passing!!!! Miss them as neighbors!!!!
God bless and Rest In Peace Rob!!!
You will be missed!!!

Rob was a great friend, he put my air conditioner in my house back in 2000 when we moved in the new house. He was always there when I needed help on my furnace or air and helped me put in a gas line to my pool. We talked often before he left for Las Vegas. I would often get Rob tickets to Tiger and Red Wing games, he enjoyed taking his kids to the games. He will be missed by me and my family. My God hold in his arms, I hope your with Dad.
